A two-story, neo-renaissance-style structure built in 1904. It still appears the way it did when it was first built and is one of Japan's oldest structures.

京都府庁は１００年以上前に建てられ　現在でも使用されている日本で一番古い県庁の建物だそうで　１０年ほど前から一部を公開して要るそうです． 公開日は火曜日から金曜日　第1、3、5週目の土曜日10時から17時まで。無料。たまたま丸田町通りを歩いていて　守衛さんが立っていなければ通り過ぎるところでした。洋館が見えたので伺ったところ見学できるとのことだったので入ると　中はひっそりとして人の気配もなく　言われた通りに2階に行き受付をしててパンフレットをもらいまず　正庁と旧知事室を見ました。旧知事室には江戸時代の地図があって　この場所は江戸末期松平容保の京都守護屋敷があったところだそうです。代々の京都府知事の写真が飾られていました。京都出身の人が少ない。一階におり中庭を散策すると　容保桜と名付けられた木がありました。ぐるっと回って旧議場を見ました。明治時代築で　壁が剥がれたり古色蒼然ですが　まだ現役なのがすごい。まだまだ...

2025.5.15 葵祭の帰り、今日は旧本館の中に入りました。無料です、それに皆さん丁寧に対応してくれます。 1階の議会が行われていた部屋、そして2階の知事室は必見です。 建物に囲まれた中庭、小川治兵衛さんの作庭、桜と京都の歴史建造物の遺構も有りますよ😊

2022'10/22 時代祭帰りのチョイ寄り。下立売通りから見える立派な建物です。正門の近くには京都守護職屋敷跡の碑もあり、会津藩主松平容保や新撰組も?と思いながら案内通り東門へ。

守衛室で建物拝見の挨拶して入りました。来年には文化庁が京都に来るんだ✨と想像しながら玄関潜ると…あれっ今日は閉館(笑)の張り紙。皆さんは指定休曜日、時間を確認してから来て下さいね✋

この旧本館設計者は松室重光さん、ルネサンス様式と呼ばれる格調高い建物、やがてこれが全国の自治体のひな型になったそうだ。一度は...
