Adachi Kumihimo Gallery — Attraction in Kyoto

A small meusem upstairs this is a nice side quest on your way to the Imperial Palace grounds. Not really something worth making a huge effort to visit but the curators we're friendly (as is most everyone in Japan) and the traditional Kumihimo braiding (the same braiding in the Japanese anime "Your Name") was neat to see! No English though so don't expect to understand too much of the history without a translator. (They ask you take no photos as well) There is a Kumihimo shop about 30 minutes away by bus. This place is on the 3rd floor. You will have to just get it even it seems scary as it’s like an office or something. But they will come and talk to you. You might have to speak Japanese but they are very friendly. We did the workshop making a keychain for around 2,000 sth yen. It took like40mins to get it done. You should make a reservation but we walked in and it worked out fine, only that we needed to come back in 40 mins or so
