Rooms and bathroom tiny but clean, noisy, location good.
However:
(1) I chose this hotel because the website said "bike rental included". After booking (weeks before our stay), I messaged them to reserve two bikes for the first morning of our stay. They told me that it depends on the availability of the day, and that I should ask again later.
Two days before check-in, I messaged them again -- they told me to ask the receptionist when I arrive.
When we arrived at 9pm, of course the 3 (!) bikes they had available for the ca. 100 guests of the hotel were already booked for the next day.
No drama -- but please don't advertise "bike rental included" on your website, then.
(2) The wifi doesn't work (does not connect), which is super annoying.
If you do choose to book this hotel, make sure to complete the online check-in 3 days prior to your stay. Otherwise you might have to go back to their office at Kyoto central station to complete the check-in. The online process went smoothly (I felt well-informed through the Airbnb app), however if you don't monitor your emails / messages while travelling and miss it, it will...
Read moreJisco is hotel, not Airbnb. In Japan it is common not to meet owners or staff, and there noone is at front desk. So best for cheking is to do it online, then everything workd easy and perfect. You can also take shuttle from Kyoto station to Jisco hotel. Rooms are small like everywhere in Japan, but everything is provided, cosmetics, all you need in the bathroom, pijamas, even drinking water, coffee and tea and you have foot masager in the room. Bad is that windows are small without the view at all, natural dayly light is missing and the room is dark. At shared place You can use washing machine for coins (but there s only one for the whole hotel) and breakfast area with kitchen. Hotel position is perfect, in small quiet street just across The Imperial Palace Garden, and theres bus and metro station very close. Inside 30 minutes You can walk to many neighboorhoods, coffee shops, shops, restaurants, temples... We stayed 6 nights and would like to stay 3 more nights but there was no free room to prolongue. So, in general exelent place to...
Read morePoor customer service and no help staff at the hotel. I saw many confused guests unable to get into the building or get the key to their room. There is no help available other than a phone for contacting the main office. If you contact their help line, their response requires a Japanese telephone number, which foreign tourists usually don't have. They rely too much on technology and do not provide reliable services. Example: I requested in person that my suitcases be delivered to the hotel as soon as they got delivered to the office. (They do not accept any delivery as they do not have anyone at the hotel itself.) The suitcases were delivered to the office in the morning, sat there all day. They had the audacity to tell me I was supposed to travel all the way to the office to pick them up. The suitcases were not delivered until 9:00pm. That really created a lot of stress and caused schedule change. No apologies from them. Japan is supposed to have excellent...
