Nothing compares to Mugen! This ryokan is simply something special. A sanctuary away from the crowds of Kyoto, hidden among its residential streets. The rooms and common areas are beautifully designed and the bathrooms are modern and spacious. Most importantly, Tome san and Kazu san are the kindest, most helpful hosts you imagine.
Tome san’s local ‘dinner map’ for guests is such a brilliant idea and her help with making reservations each day meant we had some delicious evening meals in welcoming family-run restaurants. Read moreRyokan Mugen is simply perfect. I took my mom on a trip to visit Kyoto and wanted to give my mom an authentic Japanese style residence experience. This is exactly what I wanted. My mom is also very happy. The room and all amenities are all high quality and top notch. The style of this Roykan which is more than 160 year old definitely brought us back to time. ||The host Tomen San and her husband are so kind and helpful. They are God given gifts to any guests who visit Kyoto area. Tome San was very attentive to guests and showed such respects to my mom. She also helped on making reservation with good local restaurants and introduced hidden attractions not frequented by regular tourists. One more thing, she prepared great Japanese breakfast. She speaks perfect English and make life so much easier. Her husband is also kind to make sure we hit the right direction when we went out. ||Overall the stay is fantastic and I highly recommend her place. This place only has 4 rooms so that you will definitely get inner peace. Perfect for couples...
