We attended early services at the Nishi Hongwanji Temple and found this location convenient as it was next door. The hotel is quiet & simply furnished, not fancy but clean, had a simple restaurant downstairs, cafe and small shop in the lobby. There was a Japanese style bath on the lower floor as well, washing machine/dryer. No wi-fi available. While this location was not central to the Kyoto night life, a quick taxi or bus ride 10-20 minutes in any direction got us to the Kyoto Station or Kawaramachi shopping areas. A restaurant and convenience store were across the busy street but easily accessible. The hotel has a nice restaurant that serves local Japanese meals and a small shop to buy local snacks, trinkets and Buddhist accessories. Hotel rates were reasonable....
Read moreThis is not a fancy hotel, but it is nice and clean. It has an onsen inside the hotel in the basement. It was relaxing, but a little hot. The rooms are not Western style and we slept on tatami mats. That was very comfortable. It had a really good buffet breakfast. The hotel is very comfortable and quiet. It is connected to NIshi Hongwanji Temple. So it is a quick easy walk there if you would like to attend morning services. But any one can stay. $70 flat rate, spacious, clean room, quiet, and Kyoto Tower is visual from east side room.
