Costume Museum — Attraction in Kyoto

The Costume Museum is a small and quiet one-floor exhibit of various dioramas of scenes of dolls depicting "The Tale of Genji" and the Heian Period.

Even if you are not well-versed on this part of Japanese culture and history as I am, you will appreciate the very detailed creations in here.

If you are a photographer, I encourage bringing a macro lens to really get into the visual details - everything is amazingly well crafted and maintained.

It’s a small “museum” or rather an large exhibition room with amazing miniature display of models of Heian palace based on The Tale of Genji. Highly recommended! It’s located a crossed the street from a great temple, where transportation is very convenient.
