The hotel is situated halfway between Dogo Onsen and temple no 51. A shuttle bus can take you from Dogo Onsen tramstation and spa. It's a short walk and just behind the tennis club and youth hostel.||The room did not offer an impressive view from the window but I slept well and was so comfy there.There are American style rooms but the Japanese style rooms are better as usual, yes you will sleep on the floor but the extra paper walls make the room more quiet, charming and peaceful.||The hotel is frequented by Japanese of whom many walk around in a bathrobe that is included in the stay. Not much English is spoken but visitors and staff were friendly.||||Breakfast and dinner is included and served in large buffet with many natural Japanese choices. Not much European choices although the croissants and icecream were irresistible. The hotel features a coin laundry, table tennis, billiard, a manga corner, a tourist shop, a game arcade, a sauna and foremost a HQ Onsen hotspring with indoor and outdoor bathing.    Read moreThis is one of the nicer Yukai resort properties.|There is a shuttle service every 30 minutes from in front of the Dogo Onsen station (behind the taxis) and it also stops at the side of the Dogo Onsen Honkan building.|Staff were very friendly.Room was recently refurbished with a mirrored bamboo feature to make the room seem much larger (and make up for the lack of a proper window which is fine for a one night stay if you are not claustrophobic!)|The indoor hot spring baths was large and clean and there was also a small outside bath and sauna which were very nice.The baths were available until 11am.|The selection of food was good and the staff even put on a mochi making demonstration to introduce local foods.Also the English signage in the restaurant was much better than in other Yukai resort properties I have stayed in the past.|All in all great value for money as always.Ask for a room with a full...
   Read moreThe difficult balance between cost and quality is off. Everything is "OK", but the end feeling is somewhat...sad. They strive to tick all the boxes, like bringing new amenities each day.. but they just leave them all packed and hung in a plastic bag on your door knob..you get a bag with:bath towels, tea bags, and toothbrushes. All rooms have TVs and fridges and baths and toilets... but they smell all so slightly of tobacco, fridges and TVs are smallest possible models.
Mind you there aren't any major flaws, and if you think in terms of sheer numbers and ticked boxes, everything is ok. Mediocre. Leaving you feeling vaguely dissatisfied, but not...
