The location of the hotel is very convenient because I came with train from Kyoto. I came to Japan for so many times, and I can say this hotel have the worst hospitality, even the small hotel in city have better hospitality.
Upon checking in, they greeted me with wide smile and in Japanese. Once I asked if they can speak english, smile’s gone and it’s just attitudes after attitudes. Even when I wanted to rent a bike during the evening, it’s just “no bike rent, noon only”. For those who wanted to rent a bike, there’s a family-owned rentals (as well bag storage and souvenir shop) next to the hotel.
The room itself is spacious, the bathroom is a bit old but everything still works well. The WC and sink are separated from the bathroom, which is good if you’re traveling in a group. The room is not soundproof, my room was at the 1st floor, and it can be very noisy in the morning. During my stay, there’s a C tour group and they were very very noisy. Neither the staffs or the tour leader tell them to keep their voice down. It was just pure yelling and laughing noise during my stay, even at night. Before checking out I was checking under the blanket if I left anything behind and I found a clump of black hair, which is not mine because I have brown hair. I only found the hair clump in the morning because I only use that bed to nap with my outside clothes. I didn’t pull the blanket when I napped.
The breakfast selection was great. I can say the only warm encounters I had during my stay here are mostly from the kitchen/dining staffs. I was there quite early in the morning so they greeted me a lot when I went to the buffet tables. “Please eat well”, “enjoy your meal”, “please enjoy the food”, one of the most memorable encounter was with the ojisan who made the omelettes. He kept greeting me everytime I passed by his station.
As for the check out time, it’s 10.00 and right at 10.05 they will chase you out of the room. I wasn’t feeling well that morning and I explained to the front desk after breakfast, she just tell me that I have to pay ¥3.500 for every 30 minutes (I understand that I have to pay for extention but ¥3.500/30 mins? Make it make sense). So I checked out at 10.08 and they were not very happy that I was late for 8 minutes. Again, no smile no greeting no thank you. Just pure coldness and attitudes.
Location wise, it’s very convenient (near Amanohashidate Station and Amanohashidate viewing point) but there’s not much you can do after 16.00 in this area. I wanted to go to this local brewery and spent ¥7.000 for taxi because it’s so far from everything else. If you’re planning to take bus to Ine, it’s also very convenient because the bus stop is just across the road. But then, there’s nothing to do around here. The hotel didn’t accept dinner reservation as well. They said it was full (asked around 14.00), but before I went out around 18.00, there were only 5-6 people there (dining hall can accomodate 60-70 people...
Read moreA Luxurious Stay with Exquisite Dining and Stunning Views
We recently stayed at a hotel with a beautiful sea view, and it was by far the nicest and largest room of our entire trip. The stay, which cost over HKD$7000, included both dinner and breakfast, and the experience was well worth the price.
Dinner was an exceptional fine dining experience, served in an exclusive suite that offered a high degree of privacy. Each course was a true sensory journey, with the staff guiding us through the dishes, from delicate tofu with walnut to the rich flavours of grilled Spanish mackerel and the unique taste of pine needle gelato. Every dish was thoughtfully presented, and the variety of textures and flavours made this meal unforgettable.
However, while the food was phenomenal, the service could use some fine-tuning. There were moments when the staff rushed certain aspects of the meal, such as lighting pots before we were ready and serving ice cream while we were still eating our mains. Although they kindly accommodated our request to serve dessert later, these small lapses in timing detracted slightly from the experience.
After dinner, we enjoyed the onsen facilities, which were excellent. The outdoor onsen, in particular, was a highlight, offering a tranquil environment to relax. The amenities were top-notch, with various cleansing products and lotions available. There was also a cold salt room and a hot steam room, which added to the overall spa-like experience.
The next morning, we had a buffet breakfast in the dedicated restaurant, which overlooked the bay—a stunning view to start the day. The breakfast offered a wide variety of choices, from grilled items to salmon roe rice, all of which were delicately prepared. The tofu with ginger and the fresh fruits were especially memorable. While I didn’t have a huge appetite, everything I tried was of superior quality.
Overall, this hotel delivered a luxurious and relaxing stay, with outstanding dining and beautiful views. The staff were polite and helpful, though they could improve by paying more attention to the pacing of the meal. Nevertheless, the quality of the food, the comfort of the room, and the excellent onsen made this a superior experience. I would highly recommend it for those looking for a high-end,...
Read moreWe chose Amanohasidate Hotel for its proximity to the Amanohasidate train station and key bus stops. It was also very walkable to Viewland, Chionji temple and the restaurants in the vicinity (even in the snowstorm that came when we were there). This proved to be extremely convenient not only for touring Amanohasidate but also the other towns nearby.
The hotel itself is very well maintained despite its age. The lobby is welcoming, a well stocked souvenir shop, and an amazing onsen! The bridge right outside the onsen is a delightful sight, drawing inspiration from Kaisen Bridge (廻旋橋) and establishing the quintessential quality service Japanese brings to their customers (which include recreating visuals of their environments indoors). The onsen itself is an absolute experience. Indoor and outdoor baths, plus dry salt rooms and saunas, which is the first for us. The vending machines outside the onsen offer much to replenish fluids. Try the pale ale there. Pity there isn't the typical milk vending machines there.
The rooms are amazingly well kept and clean. We had the hybrid Japanese and western room and it offers an excellent view of the bays and sea.
An amazing and luxurious spread of seasonal and typical food is served at breakfast. Because Amanohasidate is near the coast, try the seafood there. Grilled sardines, Japanese mackerels, sandfish all go well with rice or porridge.
Last but not least, Amanohasidate is a relatively small town where English is not the main language (neither is it even in big cities in Japan). Patience, understanding the Japanese code of service and Google translate goes a long way in communicating with lobby staff. They do their best and we can tell when they put up a timetable that they update periodically regarding all transportation modes and availability of tourists spots during the snowstorm. Now...
