It was the Monday after a national holiday on Sunday so every restaurant was closed/closing but this coffee shop was open and we went in and are we glad we did. The folks there took good care of these two hungry travelers and then there were the take away chocolate cookies that sealed the deal. The meal ended but the conversation did not. We lingered for quite a while using our smart phone translator. Their motto could be summed up as “what is life without bread?” and we agreed with them wholeheartedly but when we saw this bottle on the way out we folded with laughter as “beer is bread” is an old maxim from our days in craft brew heaven of Boulder, CO.

Read moreService at this place is so bad. No greeting when you come in, no thank you, and the younger female staff who’s at the cashier is so rude. She keep glaring at me while I’m looking at the menu in front of her, keep speaking Japanese when I said I don’t speak Japanese, and I felt like her tone is so rude too. Felt like I’m there to beg for food lol. If you don’t like foreigners, just put a sign in front of your store: NO FOREIGNERS. The older lady is much nicer and she’s so cheerful. Read moreamazing place! the food is REALLY good - we had sandwiches and we also had curry and it was THE best one we had in Japan! everything is super fresh and made with love! the staff is super friendly and they honestly saved us from starving when we were in Amanohashidate in October, because after 6pm everything was closed already and they were the only place that still worked and they stayed and cooked for us even tough they were going to close! we really appreciated it 🩵 we recommend this place to everyone...
