This hotel is in the perfect location for anyone who likes shopping, food and football. It's located across the street from Alpen, which has the best prices and selection for football gear. Much better than Kamo, but this is also located just a couple blocks away. There's Parco mall with the Pokemon Center and a huge Uniqlo/GU just a couple blocks away. The food around the area is great and there isn't really a miss on anything we had. There's a 7-11, Family Mart and Lawson's all within one block. There's a drugstore across the street. The only negative is it's kind of far (10 min walk) from the nearest train station, which is short if you don't have luggage and a bunch of kids with you.||Osu Market Shopping street is just a 10 min walk away and there's a nice park across the street too to spend time in when the weather is good, which is was when we were there.||We came for a football tournament, so there was a group of 36 of us at the peak.||The hiccups....|Only 2 staff workers speak English well. There were a lot of miscommunications. The Breakfast was kind of a hassle because they make you pay at the front first instead of billing it to your room. Plus the food served is the same every day. The breakfast "welcome" host probably should be switched because she comes off a bit rude.||There is no water filling stations anywhere in the hotel. They will fill your water from the tap if you ask.||The rooms are TINY. The hotel only had 2 extra blankets (we used the chair as a bed), so when we got these blankets, the rest of the families had to use bathrobes. They also didn't have any extra pillows, which is kind of odd too.||They also were really strict with our group in the lounge. They basically told us we had to leave because we were being too loud and some of the other customers were "complaining", but this is a lounge common space and we were a large group/team. There should be more understanding in making us feel welcome.||The shampoo smelled like rubbing alcohol, so we didn't use it.||The coffee machine with complimentary coffee was "out of order" for our entire stay. The complimentary one cup of wine was also "out of service." The coffee was a perk that we intentionally wanted for our hotel.||HIGHLIGHT|Kawmini! She was able to help us get reservations for 22 people for 2 nights of our trip when the other staff people couldn't understand what we needed or didn't want to help us .||Overall, I would recommend this place, but make sure that you plan accordingly for bed space.||Thanks for an...

Read moreA great hotel to stay at, especially if you're looking for a hands-off experience. It's got a lot of modern touches and attention to detail (including glasses that have a cutout in the bottom rim for you pinky, hah!). You also get a good wonderful Japanese style bath experience with a separate shower and tub...in a different room than the toilet. Trust me, this is very useful when traveling with another. Honestly though, the best thing about this place is the LG Styler they have installed...it's like a miracle fridge for your clothes. Put a few articles in there and you can steam them, press them, refresh them (works better than febreez, especially since shirts and socks come out fluffy and soft!), or even sanitize them. It's well worth the space it was given and more.
The other great thing about this hotel is it's location, you're right off a main shopping drag in central Nagoya, surrounded by high-end department stores, specialty restaurants, and glittery lights galore. There's also easy access to Sakae Chika (the Sakae subway station)... but being down a side street a few steps means you won't hear any of the noise from all this. I should also point out that the blackout curtains work wonders at keeping the early morning sun out! And if you go the other direction you can find a quiet walk past a few parks, many temples and shrines, and the Osu district (including indie stores and the famous Shotengai).
The only thing catch is don't expect much involvement with the staff. This place feels more like minimally staffed hotel with very friendly service that you have to go to the check-in counter to get. Also, despite what the website says, English-speaking can be hit or miss depending who you get that day, so have a little basic Japanese and Google translate ready and you're good to go. Besides, you didn't come here to lounge around, and this hotel knows it. Sleep comfy here during the night, go out and enjoy Nagoya...
