Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Honkan is a great all around business hotel. It is clean, well maintained, and convenient for travelers transiting through NRT. With free shuttle from the airport (at Terminal 1, it is at Stall 16 and at Terminal 2, it is at Stall 31B), you arrive to a free breakfast which is served from 6:30AM to 9:00AM. There are no restaurants for lunch or dinner at the hotel, but there is a Lawson convenience store right in the lobby. It is well stocked with rice balls (onigiri) and other food. There are also great selections of yummy ice cream. Your other options for food are one, to eat at the airport before coming to the hotel or two, go back to the airport for food on the free shuttle if the food offered at Lawson is not adequate. Check in and out is completed at a machine, but there are employees available to help if need be. There are half a dozen washing machines and dryers next to the check in desk. Costs are 30 yen for a packet of soap and 200 yen for washing a 5kg/10 lbs load, whereas it’s 100 yen for each 10 minutes of drying. Guess what? The washing machine has a pre rinse function so that it rinses out the machine before you put in your laundry! Amazing, it’s not something you can find in California. My single room looks onto the runway but if you didn’t open the window, you would not hear the planes landing at all. So, the room has good sound insulation. There is a queen bed and the room size is slightly larger than a room at an APA Hotel. It has a small fridge, a small safe, a water boiler, a phone, a magnifying mirror, and some books. The water is excellently hot and you get full pressure on the 7th floor. The curtains can be easily closed and they block all outside lights. ❤️The lobby has a piano that plays Chopin Nocturne Op 92 among various other classical music❤️ Alright, you have a feeling that the owners are sincere in providing a welcoming place for travelers. There is a sense of generosity here. Dear owners, thank you for a wonderful stay and I wish you...
Read moreI recently stayed at Toyoko Inn Narita Airport Shinkan. While there were several positives, the overall experience was overshadowed by disappointing customer service and some maintenance issues.||The hotel’s location near the airport is excellent, and the free shuttle service was reliable and efficient, taking just 10 minutes to reach the terminals. The Lawson convenience store on-site was incredibly handy for grabbing snacks or essentials, and the breakfast, while decent, was quite crowded. Check-out was smooth and hassle-free, which was appreciated.||However, my main issue was the unhelpful attitude of the staff. I accidentally booked a smoking room instead of a non-smoking one. Upon arrival around 9 p.m., I requested a change, but the staff refused, even though at least nine non-smoking rooms were showing as available on Booking.com for the same date. At that late hour, it was highly unlikely those rooms would sell out. Unfortunately, since the cancellation period had passed and we had already checked in, rebooking wasn’t an option without losing our payment.||Additionally, my room had some maintenance issues. The showerhead was poorly maintained, and water was leaking from the roof above the shower as well as the showerhead itself. This made it difficult to enjoy a proper shower. Although the room felt quiet initially, my sleeping app recorded quite a bit of noise during the night, which I hadn’t expected.||The staff prioritised rigid policies over customer satisfaction, even when resolving the issue would have been simple. This lack of flexibility and unwillingness to assist, combined with room maintenance issues, completely overshadowed the otherwise decent stay.||While the shuttle, location, and amenities like Lawson and breakfast are positives, I cannot recommend this hotel due to their poor customer service and room...
