This is a well priced ryokan if you’re looking for a traditional experience. A few things to note before booking (things I didn’t realise and if I had known I wouldn’t have booked here), 1: it’s communal showers/bath only (no private available). Also, the showers only only from 6-9pm. Which isn’t great if you get back from skiing all sweaty and can’t shower straight away. 2: wifi doesn’t reach rooms, only available in reception (which was freezing because the heater only gets turned on at certain times), 3: the front doors are locked at 11pm, this isn’t great if you want to stay out and drink 4: it’s at the bottom of the hill, so hiking up with my snowboarding gear each day wasn’t fun. If you’re there for skiing/riding, I’d pick somewhere closer to the base of the ski fields and 5: the cost we were given when we booked didn’t include tax, so when we went to pay we were surprised it was more. Read moreWe went there for snowboarding, so it is important to us that the location and transportation. Although Kawatatsu is not closed to gondola, but it's closed to shuttle bus stop, Sintan. Hostel also provide space to put snowboards and skis for every customers.||We booked one room for 2 people with breakfast for 5 days, and we were so surprised and enjoyed Japanese breakfast, and they provided different meal everyday.||There is hot spring in the hostel with shower equipment, shampoo and soap, so it is convenient if you don't want to go out side to public hot spring and shower there.||When we left the hostel, one staff was just about to leave as well. Since she found out we may miss the bus to leave Nozawa, she just took our luggages and ran to Sintan stop.
