For a category 2 property, the Hyatt Regency Osaka provides excellent value for those willing to commute to and from the city center. Looking at reviews prior to my trip, the largest gripe that people had was the 30 minute or so commute into Umeda or Namba. What this hotel lacks in location convenience though, it makes up for in value and a decently sized room. The room was decently sized, the bed was comfortable, the room felt clean, and was overall sufficiently appointed. The bathroom was also relatively large by Japanese standards. I also really liked my view into the Osaka Bay.
To mitigate the distance from the city, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to Universal Studios Japan as well as a shuttle to Osaka Station City. My main concern prior to arriving at this hotel however were convenience stores. There are at least two convenience stores in the ATC center across the street from the Hyatt Regency. Additionally, there is a closer convenience store in the Cosmo Tower. Both the ATC and the Cosmo Tower can be accessed via a covered pedestrian walkway during business hours (when the Cosmo Tower is open). I happened to be in Japan during a Typhoon, so the covered walkway was very convenient.
You can also use the covered walkway to access the Trade Center Mae Station via the ATC building to then access the Osaka Subway System.
Ultimately, I enjoyed my stay here. As long as the hotel remains priced similarly/same category, I'd stay here again in the future. I forgot to mention that the staff here were fantastic. I received luxury hotel quality service. So yes, I would stay here again. While far from the city, the hotel was...
Read moreClub Lounge room on a weekday night. Nearly a year after this hotel sadly changed management to Seibu Prince, and the Club Lounge suffered through, shall we say, managerial experimentation, the Club Lounge has returned to much the same as it was under Hyatt management. Specifically, it has the same pleasant smell; the music is the same pleasant songs; the afternoon tea is the same (fruit, two deserts and one pastry) and the breakfast is the same (1F, same food, same loud tourists). The evening food selection has less variety, but you can still get a meal out of it. Gone are the rice, bread, cheese, lettuce salad and hot dishes. The alcohol selection is basically the same. They also added the nightcap hour of chocolate and whisky (including 12-year old Canadian Club) that Hyatt would occasionally have, to the 2 regular hours of cocktails. Two big changes are helpful. First, little kids are not allowed after 630 pm and second...the place is empty. Even though there was an event at Intex that day, and breakfast the next morning was packed, I counted only about 16 people stopping by the Club Lounge in the evening, so you can sit in your favorite chair and enjoy the quite atmosphere. Most importantly, the club staff is still exceptionally kind and friendly, making it arguably the best hotel lounge in Osaka. Some staff are the same, and the new staff have the same outgoing personalities and kindness that make the club a great...
Read moreFirst I’d like to clarify that I wasn’t staying in Hyatt Regency Osaka this time, but I was here taking Limousine bus to KIX this morning and I had a very terrible experience with the Hyatt Regency Osaka staff.
When we were waiting to get into the bus, there was a gentleman collecting and tagging our bags who was extremely rude and impolite.
It was cold outside so I went to show the tickets to the driver when he was putting the tags onto the suitcases so my family could get in the bus without having to stand with the cold. The gentleman then yelled at me to REMIND me that I forgot the bag tags that we would be using to get the bags upon our arrival.
In fact , I didn’t forget it al all. I just wanted to make sure my family were able to get in as soon as possible.
Even if I really forgot to get the tags from him, I expected a staff working in a high end hotel like Hyatt speaking with basic manners.
I may not be their guests this time, but during our period of time here we were keep saying that we should try to stay at Hyatt next time when we visit Osaka again. Yet due to the disappointing experience today, I will never stay in this hotel and I will never recommend here to any of my friends.
The other staffs were friendly and nice but the way this particular gentleman communicated with me is unacceptable to me. If there were an option for zero star that’s what they would get from...
