Very big hotel with a nice view of Osaka. You get a very spacious room for what you pay and the rooms are massive compared to the standard hotel rooms in Japan. Everything was tidy and clean upon check-in.
Amenities such as toothbrush or hair comb are available in the lobby. There’s a coin-operated laundry room available on every floor with detergent. If you do not have coins, you can exchange at the receptionist desk.
The hotel is located close to Universal Studios Japan so this is a potential place to stay if you’re looking to visit USJ. However, this is quite far from the rest of Osaka like Dotonbori or Osaka Castle. There’s also not many stores or restaurants around the hotel, which doesn’t leave much to do but helps in having a quiet stay. The surrounding area feels like bordering between the countryside and suburb.
Traveling is very inconvenient since the nearest train station is far from the hotel. Google maps is also not very accurate in determining your current location while navigating. If you plan to stay, definitely have a car or plan out how you will commute.
Aside from the location, everything else was great. The hotel is huge with many floors and there’s many elevators so wait time or crowded elevators is nonexistent. I saw reviews about cockroaches, but I did not encounter any when I visited at the beginning...
Read moreStaying for five nights and had a great experience here. Being told that we had to wait until 3pm before the front desk could check us in, but the lady letted us in around 2:30pm which was really kind considering we were really tired since we left from home at 4:30 in the morning.
Since we didn't have enough space in the fridge, we asked whether we could storage the juice at their fridge. They kept the juice properly and they were kind to allow us to get two bottles each night during our stays (I was personally kinda embarrassed to make this kind of request but I had to since I was the only one spoke Japanese in my family. Yet they agreed to help out and communicated with manners.)
The rooms were clean and we were satisfied with the equipments. The only thing to be improved that I could come up with was the location of the washbasin. The toilet and the shower room were separated while the washbasin was set up only in the shower room, which was a bit inconvenient to me personally.
As for the food service, there were a bunch of food to choose at the complimentary breakfast area, and I liked most of them, especially the omelet made and served onsite. The coffee was good and served all day long.
Although some reviews say the location is not ideal, I still highly recommend this hotel for those who are visiting...
Read moreWe were taken here for the last night of a tour of Japan. For those travellers who were leaving early afternoon or late morning the location of this hotel was not an issue. Those of us who were not leaving until late evening however did find the remoteness and the lack of facilities to be a problem. What we found most annoying was the fact that the restaurant only opened at lunchtime and although the hotel shop sold food and a microwave was provided to heat it we were not allowed to eat in the bar area which was the only warm place to sit on a cold wet day. The restaurant did open the evening before but as it turned out this was only for our tour group. The food was not great. There was a mix of western and Japanese dishes but they were all lukewarm. The bedrooms however were huge by Japanese standards, with separate toilet, washroom, sitting and sleeping areas. The beds and pillows were firm, very firm. There are two Quintessa hotels in Osaka, the one in Shinsaibashi seems to be closer to restaurants and shops and would have been preferable. Although the majority of the staff were pleasant and helpful and coped well with the language barrier( the exception was the bar/restaurant manager who was not at all pleasant or helpful) we would not stay here through choice and could not...
