We put up here for 4 Nights, booked through Expedia. Arrived via Limo bus (alight at Hotel New Hankyu) but quite lost on the way there as the signage are small so a 10 mins walk lasted 20 mins, haha.! But still convenient as its within Osaka sta nearby.||Check-in was a breeze and the front desk staff spoke decent English. Japanese hotel room sizes are small but we comfortably fit ourselves with 2 luggage bags. The room amenities are good and Japanese toilet complete with bidet. Ok view as we stayed 14 storey, and it is “buckwheat” style pillow, which I requested for an additional one from housekeeping.||Centrally located the hotel is walking distance to both Umeda and Osaka station, good for us making day trip to Kobe/Kyoto.! Restaurants, cafes and 24-hour Family Mart abound. We had our bf at Pronto and some nearby eateries.||Have read previous TA reviewers mentioning about the noise, and Hotel indeed leave ear piece for us! We stayed facing the busy train station, but the noise is bearable. Just the morning glare of the hot early Summer Sun and night neon billboards of surrounding buildings impacts a bit.||There are 2 approach to the hotel; the more direct and faster way is via the straight road alongside the ramp up Expressway, compared to the meandering bustling street but with tons to see.. Just look at DD House and you will see the entrance..||Another good point, when we departure; we can leave our luggage first at the main Hotel instead of the Annex. Definitely helpful as we leave by...
Read moreI decided to try a new hotel location while staying in Osaka and it was a mistake. There are certain things you don't want to experience with a hotel and that's bad service and a room that looks like it's falling apart. ||When it comes to the location, you'll be a short walk from the main area of Umeda. While it isn't a far walk, the location doesn't really have any quick access to convenience stores or markets. As far as the area, you're going to get an ample selection of restaurants, which is great if you love going to eat out. ||While the check-in process was okay, having staff that are still in training may not be best option for the peak travel season. Rather than getting a smooth check-in, many questions were asked, and while nothing was wrong, the person was constantly having to check with management. And the kicker, this was all at the self-check-in station. ||I think where things really fell apart is when it came to the room. Overall, the room was fine, but the ceiling paper was coming off, which was concerning. There were also spots that were covered, which made me wonder what was underneath. ||Would I stay here again? Never. But it was worth checking out just to see what level of service and amenities that Hotel Hankyu offers. If you can get this place for cheap, check elsewhere, I don't think you'll be happy with...
Read moreAllergy Sufferers BEWARE! This hotel has a nice lobby, but that’s about as far as the cleanliness extends. Firstly, there is no air condition inside of the rooms. After taking a shower, you will feel like you’re roasting alive in a sauna. Thankfully, we went during November when it was chilly outside. Cracking the window open saved us. I strongly suggest calling the front desk and request a fan for your room. You will need it.
Secondly, and most importantly, every single day, I woke up with my face swollen beyond recognition from dust allergies. This had never happened to me before in my life. It’s pretty awful. I can’t even elaborate on this because the bottom line is that the rooms are not cleanly to say the least.
That being said, I am giving this hotel 2 stars because the location is pretty great. Close to the train station and mall. Beyond that, it’s very affordable. I just assume that I can find a hotel in a convenient location in Osaka that won’t make me super sick. I’d rather pay four times the money if it meant it was clean.
Pretty sad to give this review as I absolutely loved our trip. Japan is an incredible country. I could go back 1,000 times and it would never be enough. This hotel was the only bad experience in a country...
