This morning I met the most unhelpful front desk in CANDEO hotels Omiya in Japan. I am having a two month vacation in Japan now, start from Hokkaido, end in Kyushu. I am using the bullet trains a lot so I opt to stay nearby the JR stations and take advantage of the courier service to deliver my bulky suitcase to my next holiday. I
JR East Met Hotel/ Daiwa Roynet staff helped me to complete the delivery request form, which is of course all in Japanese and Kanji. I am of Chinese ethnicity but I grown up in London so I I don’t understand the Kanji.
The front desk staff I encountered this morning around 9am (Mr Mikel G, a young blond man) assumed I could complete a Japanese delivery request form by myself. Without offering any help. Also, it seems that he didn’t know how to proceed,. Obviously enhance training is necessary.
Unlike the hospitality I received when I first stepped in the hotel on 17Oct2024 around 11am, the Japanese female staff told me in a friendly tone that my suitcase already arrived from my last hotel.
Also, I suspected if one booked thru a 3rd party website you will be assigned the worst room. I booked thru agoda for 4 nights” stay specified a quiet room, I got assigned a 2nd floor room facing the public car park. I need to use ear plugs during my sleep.
This is a decent brand except the room doesn’t have a writing desk and chair so I need to do my makeup standing in front of the mirror. I used to like this chain as I received decent hospitality last year in CANDEO Kyoto. However, after my stay in CANDEO Omiya, I will try to...
Read moreRoughly 5 min walk from Omiya Station. The entrance is on 14th floor and the public bath ( spa ) is on the 13th. We stayed on the 6th floor but there was not much of a view but a school in front of us lol
Over all, it was clean and had a nice stay but one thing, there were trash on the floor when we got in and was a bit of a disappointment.
Spa is open passed midnight and can kiiinda see the view from the window. It was clean and nice:) しかし、夜中に入ったら、携帯を利用しながら入浴してる方がいました。それは流石にやめてほしいです。 深夜でも私たちの後に何名か入っていたので、ちょっとびっくりしました。
Breakfast was VERY nice. My favorite were Home made Tofu, customized Miso soup, and detox water. They are the must try!! Can bring coffee back to your room is a huge plus too:)
Staff were very kind and helpful. Especially the guy at the restaurant who served breakfast. He is very friendly, kind and had great hospitality.
Basically it was barrier free building but bath room had a bit of gap between the entrance and the changing room. Might need help if you use wheel chair.
Parking is on the first floor, 1,400 JPY/24h. Family friendly but nothing is really around if you wanted to take kids. Need to plan things beforehand.
It was my first stay in Saitama but had a great time there:) if you are staying in Omiya, I...
Read moreConvenient location. Within walking distance from Omiya Station. Served by two convenience stores at two streets across the road.
Room wasn't big but enough for 2 with a luggage. Quiet even right next to the elevator. The king bed and pillows were comfortable for a good night's sleep.
Remember to stick the "MAKE UP THE ROOM" magnet to the door before 11am. Staff will clean the room and change the towels. Otherwise, no service.
The reception/lobby was on the 13th floor. Amenities like cotton tips/pads, razor, comb and tea were self collect there.
Spa, open bath and sauna were at 14/f. Remember to bring towel and room card for access.
Breakfast was on 13/f. From 6.30am to 9.30am. Three 1-hour sessions interval. Do prepare for a queue. A lot of food choices with good quality. Delicious.
The only drawback was the room cards. We stayed 2 nights but they were mal function...
