Had a 5 day stint in Hokkaido and this was and will be my go to lodging.
Getting any grievances out of the way, the hostel is a little out the way and can be difficult to locate at first. But that's it.
Upon arriving, checking in, is super easy and the ground rules are set. I was met with a smile and had any of my questions answered.
The stay experience was quite comfortable for a hostel. It's well built so there is minimal outside noise coming in. There is a locker selection available to you to store your belongings and there is bedding, towels and even slippers for you to help you get more comfortable. Furthermore, tooth brushes, ear cleaners and even razors are provided!! For free!
There is a lovely communal area where you can get work done, so if you're out on business I reccomend staying here.
My favourite part of the stay experience has to be the 8pm meet and greet. At this time, you will be offered a free drink, and you can mix and mingle with the other guests if you so wish. It gave a very warm and communal environment and the staff join in as well! I want to give a huge shout out to the hosting staff during my stay. Particularly Momoka, who was so sweet and kind and was such great company, with such great english. And ofcourse Kai, he was funny, charming, and can cook one hell of a curry. If you plan on staying, I reccomend coming down on a friday. the place smells gorgeous and the curry is some of the best food you're going to get, freshly made and cooked right infront of you, the man is a talented!
All of this at such a good price, please do not do yourself a disservice by not staying here! As a first time traveller, I can reccomend!
Thankyou all at Ten to Ten! Hope to...
Read moreNeed to walk around 20 minutes from Sapporo station. Hard to find since there is no sign or poster on the entry writing hostel . Rather cafe , after going 3 times round the block I finally read in small print ten to ten . 10 minutes away from any seven eleven or family mart, 30 minutes away from Ōdōri park , I found the location to be not ideal . On their website they write they have a laundromat , which is wrong . No washing machine , I find it disappointing in Japan where every hostels or hotels have one . The lady at the desk told me to go and wash clothes is quite far . Also don’t believe the photos on their website or promotions pictures . There is no park down the building . It’s a small hostel in a small street isolated from the rest of the neighborhood. For the hostel itself , classic , nothing to say except some of the curtains on their bed don’t close properly , the bed is very comfortable , bathroom clean and you can change towels every day . Breakfast is for free every morning at 8 and it is a coffee and a small bread . Still delicious . Staff is not always on the premises, morning and evening . In a nutshell. Was good for a short stay but will definitely look for another one with better equipment ( laundromat ) and better location ( closer to a family mart...
Read moreThe good: position is great, 10 minutes by foot from Sapporo station the bed is « bigger » than in other hostels, meaning you have space on the side to put some stuff (not your suitcase though) plenty of big lockers available a sufficient amount of showers quiet (outside)
The meh: a lot of lockers unavailable because the previous owners did not leave them in « reset mode ». They had to open all the lockers to check which one were empty (they let me know beforehand) lacking one more toilet in my opinion the bathroom is just next to the beds, if you have disrespectful roommates it can mean hearing them dry their hair at midnight no service: you check in via a tablet. The hostel is on top of a cute restaurant (the lady working there is great), so it’s a bit awkward. You don’t know who to ask questions.
The bad: dirty! The bathroom floor was not cleaned once in the 3 nights I slept there. Hair everywhere, as you can imagine. Same for the bathroom trash, fuller and fuller everyday. This I...
