Hotel Grand City — Hotel in Tokyo

If you’re a fujoshi and going to ikebukuro to hunt some ‘delicious’ stuff, you can stay here, you know? There’s toranoana, lashinbang, kbooks, bookoff, animate, pokemon center, all in walking distance. By walking distance I mean under 10 minutes.. going to station is farther than to go to hunt some books and doujin and merchs😂 Usually I didn’t like hotel that are more than 5 minutes from the train station but this location is too good that I have no complaints. Good food, cheap food, konbini, gacha, is your neighbor. Anyway. The room is small. But there’s functioning and wide enough table to work on my laptop properly which is gooood. Facilities including: -can send luggage to/from this hotel (yamato) -they allow me to store luggage until my checkin time,maybe can also let me store my luggage for a few hours after check out time -free hot/cold barley tea/green tea/lemon tea machine every floor -microwave and washing machine/laundry -this hotel does not force their eco-cleaning. Means i can get my room cleaned everyday. Some hotel forced it directly if you stay more than 2 days (only clean once everyday 3/4 days) -breakfast is good -room is clean and not smelly. Good . The only bad thing with my stay here is my room is so hot (?) when I’m staying in early december even though I put the fan/aircon to high (they have central AC i think, you can only set your fan) I thought maybe the air-con is on warm mode... my friend on other room said their room is not this hot. I did not complain tho because I can just open the window, allow the fresh and cold air come in for a while like in European house, all is ok. But if this troubled you when you stay here, I think you can ask the front desk. Change your room or something. Or just...

Really poor experience at this hotel - a rare thing to happen in Japan accommodations... The room was not very clean (also rare!!) - the shower curtain was quite filthy and there were still poop stains in the toilet bowl when I checked in. It was quite cool weather initially the night I stayed, so I didn't realise there was no aircon at all in the room until late in the night. (So I didn't ask the front desk until I checked out, because I didn't have the energy to deal with it) It was stuffy and extremely uncomfortable.

I was so put off by this experience that I went ahead to cancel my upcoming reservation with them in the last leg of my trip, and paid extra to stay in a better hotel. I should have believed the negative reviews posted by other travellers!

The only good points about this hotel were that (1) its location is very near to the Ikebukuro station and some places of interest, and (2) there was a friendly Chinese staff who helped me check in, I thought her service was great - I decided to give this review 2 stars purely based on her patient and cheerful explanation of the hotel's policies (otherwise I would have given it one star even with the location - the experience was just...

My son and I were traveling in Tokyo. Found this hotel near the Ikebukuro Station with good price. We chose the twin rooms and found the space reasonably big with good beds. The room was clean and fixtures were in good condition. There was daily cleaning. There was one day we didn't want room cleaning but only to clear the thrash. The staff had reception tried so very hard to understand what was my request. Do have Google Translate or something similar. A great help. The hotel has a room kettle and fridge, on every level there's dispenser for hot/ cold water and hot/cold tea. Nearby are many convenience stores, and of course Ikebukuro Station with the many department stores. Overall a great stay. As another reviewer noted, the hotel still uses a physical key and each room was given only one key, which they wanted to take back everyday so that they can clean the room. Actually using a toothbrush there's a way to activate the room electricity without the key, good for when one of us wanted to go out while the other stayed...
