Located on the 60th floor of the Sunshine 60 building in Ikebukuro, Tenbou-Park is a dreamy observatory perched 251 meters (about 823 feet) above Tokyo. It’s not just a place to admire the skyline—it’s a full-on experience that blends panoramic views with playful, seasonal installations and cozy lounging zones.
We visited during the autumn-themed display, and the setup was absolutely adorable. Think faux foliage, warm tones, and photo spots that felt like stepping into a storybook. We got tons of great photos with the fam, and the whole space was buzzing with relaxed energy—babies crawling around, couples lounging on cloud-like seats, and tourists soaking in the views.
The observatory is designed like a “sky park,” with artificial turf, soft seating, and even hammocks. It’s divided into zones that encourage everything from quiet reflection to playful interaction. There’s a cute café at the top offering drinks and snacks, though prices are a bit steep—worth it for the view, but maybe not for a full meal.
We also spotted a pop-up display for a popular anime, which added a fun cultural twist to the visit. The observatory frequently hosts themed events and installations, so there’s always something new to see. And yes—plenty of clean washrooms, which is a blessing when traveling with kids.
Getting up there is part of the fun: the elevator ride takes just 35 seconds and features cool lighting effects. Once you arrive, you’re greeted with 360-degree views of Tokyo, including landmarks like Tokyo Tower, Tokyo Skytree, and even Mount Fuji on clear days.
Tips:
• Book tickets in advance, especially during seasonal events. • Bring a camera or tripod—photo ops are everywhere. • The observatory is open until 9 PM, so sunset and night views are spectacular. • Great for families, couples, and solo travelers alike.

Read moreSunshine 60 Observatory TENBOU-PARK was hands down one of the best viewpoints I visited in Tokyo! The views were absolutely breathtaking panoramic cityscapes in every direction. In my opinion, the experience was so much better than Tokyo Skytree. Not only were the views just as stunning, but it was also way less crowded and much more peaceful, which made a huge difference. What really makes this place special is the atmosphere. The observatory has a relaxing, garden like vibe with fake grass flooring where you can lay down and take in the scenery. There are tons of soft, cushioned seats and cozy lounge areas scattered throughout, making it easy to just chill and enjoy the moment. It felt more like a rooftop park than a typical observatory, and it’s beautifully designed with thoughtful touches that make you want to stay longer. The natural lighting, open layout, and peaceful ambiance made it a perfect spot to unwind and take photos without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Plus, the location is great right in Sunshine City, surrounded by shops and restaurants, so you can grab a bite or do some shopping before or after. Highly, highly recommend this hidden gem if you’re looking for incredible views without the chaos of the bigger...

Before we bought the tickets, the staff warned us that the weather is not the best and changing rapidly, so we might not get the best views.
The elevator itself is an attraction as it is so fast you can feel the pressure in your ear changing just like in the airplane.
The view is perfect, you can really see all the sides well and far. There is a special area where you can relax, take perfect photos for Instagram or videos for TikTok (swings before windows and such). There were many couples just dating or relaxing together. Also kids playing around. Everyone seemed really happy.
You get a perfect view of Skytree and other famous landmarks and it wasn't as crowded as not that many tourists come to Ikebukuro (compared to Shibuya Sky, Skytree, Tokyo Tower).
Also it is located in a giant shopping mall, so there is plenty to do in that area before or...
