Short story. My wife woke up very grumpy this morning, i dont know why..
We were so lucky and arrived around 11.15 and there were only 1 person in front of us in the queue.
We had to wait around 10 min for a table. The staff and service is very kind, they also speak English and asks you if you know how to eat the dish, or they will explain to you how. The restaurant is small and consist of 4 tables, suitable for maximum 8 people. At the kitchen counter you can sit by the bar probably around 15 seats.
We ordered a set menu 130g of meat and side dishes for around 2000 yen per person. Make it 2500 yen with a beer. I usually eat a lot but this fixed menu was enough for me to get full and satisfied.
The meat is of high quality and every time you ate, it gave you such a satisfying feeling. I almost shed a tear knowing when im flying back to my country i will not be able to eat like this.
Combine the grilled meat with wasabi and soya and it tastes super delicious. Normally i eat beef meat medium rare, but i recommend you cook this well done, because the crust is already crispy of the breadcrumb, it makes it better when the meat is "tougher" rather than dissolving in your mouth. The rice is also perfect in all senses, soft and tasty.
We left very happy and are thankful for the staff and service and hope they can have this restaurant open for a long time, places like this should exist all over the world!
Now don't hesitate on where you should go to eat. This BEEF tonkatsu place is good enough! However, if you don't like the smell and smoke of BBQ smoke on your clothes, then i advise you to something else.
Many thanks Gyukatsu IROHA for making my wife happy after being grumpy.
We would like to come back whenever we can, but Tokyo has so much to offer in food and we need to...
Read moreOH HELL YEAH. So good! Okay, so you're a foreigner probably if you're reading this so here's a small guide.
The restaraunt is in a downstairs kind of area and there's a street sign that has the restaraunt name outside. So go down the stairs.
Look at the menu, figure out what you want, the waitress will ask you because you have to pay first, not a bad system. I suggest getting it with the Pollack roe they offer for an extra 100 yen.
Most dishes are around 1300 yen area.
When you sit down they'll light a fire in front of you, that's not for looking, you're going to cook your meat on that. Not like a Korean BBQ, more like, lightly sear your meat before eating.
They'll give you sauces as well, try them all to get the full experience.
There's a brown sauce bottle to your left, that's for your cabbage salad beside your meat.
For your meat, cook each side for like ten seconds then dip. It won't kill you even raw, don't worry, meat is very safe in Japan. Each bite should be a nice crispy flavorful taste.
Take it slow and enjoy, Japan is nice and I'll...
Read moreFirst meal in Tokyo, and we picked a winner. First time having Gyukatsu! Enjoyed every minute of it. Went on a Friday night and didn’t have to wait soo long, went down two flights of stairs, then had only 8 bar stool seating at the counter, then three tables for two to the end. There’s even a bathroom! Couldn’t believe it! Didn’t use it though. Meat was very good, tender and juicy, even if you forgot about it, on the stone . It’s a cool experience. You can have extra rice bowls for 100 yen, you choose the size of meat cutlet you want, and it comes in a set- loved the miso soup and cabbage salad. Dressing is on table. I too liked it with the sauce they bring to you, or mix the wasabi with soy sauce. Yum. Got to mention that the staff were so quick, and efficient and very friendly. They cleared up tables really fast, and gave us menus before going in and asked us for our...
