Staying for two nights, my family and I really enjoy staying here. At first I was surprised to learn that it was located in the commercial area of Minowa Sopphing mall, we could not imagine the place would be crowded with commercial activities. But then I am even grateful to have chosen this place. ||||The neighborhood Joyful Minowa is like an ancient Japanese market. Beside groceries, there are many restaurant and food stalls. So it is very easy for me to get food including tasting a variety of typical Japanese food. Since we don't eat pork, we are easily choose fish, meat or vegetables. The market also closed at abaout 8pm, so when it closed the atmosphere becomes calm and not crowded. I'll recommend traveler to taste many kind of Yakitori from this market.||||The hostel is even though the room is quite narrow but clean and comfortable. Nana-san and her husband the host are very friendly, warm and helpful. I can immediately get along with them when they say one of their auntie has a guesthouse also in Bali. They were understand a little bit Bahasa Indonesia. The common room area is cozy and there is also a room for the guests to interact or just take a tea together.||||Location is very strategic, close to local train station and about 10 minutes walk to Minowa station. My room is at second floor, there are two other rooms there, one private room and the other consist of 3 or 4 bunk beds for total capacity up to 8 person. Bathroom rooms are on the first floor, like other hostel, the bathroom is quite narrow with shower and amenities.||||I love the place and definitely will stay there again once I am...

Read moreThis is my favorite hostel that I’ve stayed at. The owners, Nana-san and Yuta-san are lovely people who take fantastic care of their guests and their space.
The hostel sits right on a covered arcade street that is mostly quiet but has a little bit of bustle on the weekends when local vendors are selling their wares (think street foods, boutiques, fresh produce) and a slightly older crowd than the Tokyo median (some young adults but mostly parents, ojiisans, and obaasans) is perusing the stalls.
Nana-san and Yuta-san have built their business from a love of travel and hostel stays, and consequently they’ve established a guesthouse that is affordable, packed with amenity, and overall just feels very cozy. The environment was social and relaxed, and I enjoyed conversation with various guests over the course of my stay.
Regarding the physical space, it is close-quarters (true to Tokyo style) but extremely clean, and it boasts some cool design touches due to the original wood scaffolding that was uncovered during the guesthouse conversion work and the tatami mats in the private rooms.
In terms of transportation, you’re a 10min walk from the Hibiya line, a 2min walk from the little Toden-Arakawa tram, and a 6min walk from buses that will take you all over Arakawa/Asakusa. I had a great time using Sato-san as a home base for 10+ days of wandering all across Tokyo, and I’d recommend it for anyone looking to explore Tokyo with the sole exception of those looking for a vibrant night-life scene, for whom a stay closer to the city center will give you more mileage.
