I should preface my review I was fortunate enough to work & live in Tokyo for one year about a decade ago. I loved each day of my life there & was traumatized when I learned I was being promoted by the American company I worked for to manage their office in Shanghai. This is definitely the best & most detailed review I’ve ever given a hotel. I apologize for the length of the review, but wanted to cover all the items I experienced. As a resident of Tokyo, I got to experience first-h& the high quality of daily life enjoyed by the Japanese. Even as an expat, I felt very special & loved the attention to detail I was given as a consumer.
I will mention I have stayed at least a dozen Hyatt Place hotels in the US in the past 5 years. This NEW Hyatt Place at Tokyo Bay (10 floors 363 rooms) is by far the BEST I have stayed at & their American counterparts could learn a great deal from the “attention to detail” at this hotel! I understand the expectations of the Japanese consumer is high & some of these details are provided to compete with the high quality of Japanese-owned hotels. Rather than go into lengthy explanation of each of these items, I am providing bullet points that holds this Hyatt Place hotel above their American versions: -Separate Shower room (from toilet area) with very strong powered showerhead -Toto washlet toilet with auto-flush function (type of toilet expected in Japan!) -Generous toiletries replenished daily (including folding brush/comb & razor) -Silverware spoons in room instead of plastic stirrer sticks. -Nice “glass” glasses (instead of plastic) & ceramic mugs (instead of paper cups) -USB ports at bedside & multiple plug outlets which require no adapters. -Generous size rooms compared to Tokyo standards. -Complimentary pajamas, bathrobes & disposable slippers in the room for 2 adults -Ice machine & vending machine on every floor. Also, ice/vending machine room has self-closing sliding doors to insulate sound for nearby rooms. -Nicely displayed room numbers instead of just numbers attached to door. -Personal safe in room with an LED light in the safe to ensure you can see contents -Bathroom has an extra roll of toilet paper wrapped as if a gift! -Complimentary bus shuttle to the nearest train station (one train stop from Disneyland), directly to Disney Sea & Disneyland. Full-size buses capable of handling the transfer of a lot of guests at one time. Bus stop at Shin-Urayasu had bus stop signage & was very easy to follow the timetable for catching the bus back to the hotel. -Generous size screen-Top of the line Sharp Aquos-branded tv -Several English language tv channels. At previous stays in Tokyo, I was only received CNN International. I was very happy to be able to watch NHK World TV for the first time while IN Japan, as I watch that network a lot while in the US! -In-room refrigerator was a nice size & held plenty of drinks & onigiri -Nice selection of teas & coffee replenished daily -Shoehorn with long handle, shoe brush & flashlight -Convenience store on lobby level of hotel.(Lawson with great selection & ATM-reviewed separately.) -Lobby was well appointed with generous comfortable lounge seating, large round Aquarium. -Lobby has a reading table with build in lights & charging ports. The table has a gorgeous “live-edge” detail & I’ve never seen this type of table at any Hyatt Place hotel! -Great Christmas Holiday decorations including a beautiful wreath, huge tree, plus additional trees located near a large sleigh festooned with gifts & resting reindeer, just waiting for Santa. -Small but well equipped Fitness Center just off the lobby with towels, bottled water & yoga mats for the guests usage. -Laundry room on every floor for the guest’s convenience. The staff at the Hyatt Place Tokyo Bay was always friendly & greeted me every time I walked thru the lobby. Bista, the bellboy, was especially helpful & always had a nice smile &a few kind words of help when I saw him. Bista really made the extra effort to make all the guests he interacted with very...
Read moreDisneyland was our purpose for our 3yo so we decided to stay near it - and with our Hyatt membership, we chose Hyatt Regency.
Had a below average experience here. The bed was old - it rocked whenever one of us moved while sleeping, which was annoying (and imagine a 3yo sleeping and fidgeting). Neck and shoulders were sore every morning.
The shower fixtures are outdated. You had to adjust the handheld shower head to fit your height.
Upon checking in, we noticed this trash on the carpet by the bedside, and it was there every day even when we checked out. This says something bad about the housekeeping here.
The breakfast was good though. It had a extensive assortment of food.
Front desk is a mixed bag. One girl I talked to wasn’t much help when I asked her about the maximum luggage allowance for the airport limousine bus (because on the website of the Narita airport bus, it says 2 per pax, but we had questions about the luggage allotment for our 3yo). The other person we talked to while checking out was helpful in looking for our taxi for the airport.
The staff around the lobby (are they called bellhop?) were attentive and helpful.
The location of this hotel is not good. It is 2 kms from the Mona mall and Aeon - which is your nearest option for dining and grocery. It is walkable but if you have a toddler, or it’s raining hard, then you can’t walk there. There is a shuttle but it can get crowded (again when it’s raining). And to be honest, it is stressful having to be aware of the shuttle times. The drivers though are extremely helpful and considerate (one driver made sure to cover us with an umbrella while we fixed the stroller out in the rain).
Regarding the Disney shuttle, when we went to Disney, it rained in the afternoon. So we waited in the rain for the shuttle. Thankfully, there was a covered waiting area BUT THIS AREA WAS NOT the waiting area for Hyatt Regency (it was for I believe commuter buses). I hope they build a covered waiting area for Hyatt.
I noticed 2 other shuttles going to and from Disney, like Comfort Suites and 1955 Hotel. So I highly recommend you consider those. Moreover, I don’t understand why there are no kid facilities in the hotel. They didn’t even offer kid tokens or trinkets (like coloring books). Or even offer a map of playgrounds for kids nearby (thankfully there was one right across).
I read one reviewer say that the hotel is for business travelers, and I agree.
TV has Chromecast (for YouTube for kids etc.).
Sad to say I wish we stayed somewhere else, even if I had the...
Read moreThis is our first time visiting Japan. Japan has always been on my “bucket list”, however, I can now check Japan off that list. We decided at the last minute to visit Japan and our planning and organizing was based on various travel guides and social media platforms that offered advice. As a novice in arranging this experience, the suggestions were very helpful.
One of the most important factor of any vacation is where you will be staying and making that location into your “temporary home”. We definitely found our “temporary home” at the Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay!!! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with kindness and respect from ALL of the employees and I literally mean ALL the employees!!! I personally appreciate how my needs were anticipated and quickly addressed.
The lobby exudes a sincere warmth and hospitality when welcoming its Guests. A friendly smile is all you need to feel welcomed and appreciated.
The rooms are well appointed with amenities unlike that at any US locations. You can experience and see how just a little thought goes a long way in making your stay here at the Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay comfortable, safe and welcoming.
Amenities include Shuttles to the Disney Parks nearby and to the main transportation facilities. The Breakfast Buffet that was included in our stay was phenomenal, with an extensive selection that changes every day. The menu is well thought out and presented in an aesthetically appealing way.
The greatest highlight for me is the employees. ALL OF THEM ARE TO BE COMMENDED!!! They are friendly, polite, respectful, caring, thoughtful, helpful, showing great hospitality to the Guests. You can see and feel the dedication that they hold to provide all Guests, no matter how young or old you are, that you are important for them to serve you. And always with a smile!!!
I have been a Hyatt Member since 1996 and can tell you that the Hyatt Regency Tokyo Bay is by far the epitome of hospitality I have ever experienced in my lifetime. I feel confident that you will share my sentiments when you experience the same care and compassion from the staff here at the Hyatt Regency...
