The rooms are on the smaller side. I am used to much larger rooms in the USA. I have a harbour view from the 12th floor (see photo). I enjoyed watching the boats and ships in the harbour. The gentleman at the front desk upgraded my room from two doubles to a queen with a kitchen and large refrigerator. He also allowed me to check in at 9am for $45. This room was $130 per night. This hotel is listed as a four star hotel. I have stayed at several 4 and 5 star hotels in and around Japan as well as the States. This hotel is on the lower end of the four star scale but still is four star. I believe you can get a non-harbour side room for about half what I paid for my harbour view. This hotel is well worth $70 per night. It is almost in the center of the harbour tourist area including Chinatown. Everything is within a 10-20 minute walk of the hotel. There are two coffee shops flanking each side of the hotel and a 7-11 convenient store one block away. There are small cafes throughout the area within several blocks of the hotel. Yokohama Port Post Office with international shipping including shipping materials is nextdoor. I shipped a box back to Texas for what it would cost to check it under the plane and I didn’t have to tote it around everywhere until I departed Japan. There is an emergency clinic across street. Also next door is the train station service desk. This hotel has an elevator that leads to the underground train station system. It includes a train station help center where you can recharge your suica card. The 7th floor has the amenities which include a nice lounge area with several types of complimentary beverages, views of the harbour, meeting rooms, fitness center and laundry facilities. One load of laundry to wash and dry cost a total of 600 yen. The detergent is included in the washing machine and is automatically dispensed by the machine. There are two vending machines in the laundry room….a non-alcoholic and an alcoholic machine. You can buy premium cold beer for $2.35 a can. Btw, this is twice what you would pay for the same beer sold nextdoor at 7-11. I bought a cold beer and drank it across the hall in the lounge area while watching my phone looking at the harbour and doing my laundry. I highly recommend this hotel if you are in Yokohama. I also highly recommend you take the cup-of-soup museum tour…you, your family, your new bride, your in-laws will love it. The entire museum experience is $7 per person and well worth it. If you are not familiar with Japanese prices, in the heart of tourism area of Yokohama a tiny Japanese cafe will cost you about $5-$10 for a full meal. In the non-tourist area it is about 20% cheaper. Remember, all prices include tax and no tipping at Japanese establishments. 7-11 prices are similar throughout Japan, a 20oz can of Jack and Coke is $1.75 and a premium can of beer is about the same. A 16oz soda is about $0.80, a liter of fresh squeezed orange juice is about $1.25, and daily prepared meals and snacks are about $1-$6 with the average about $3. You absolutely must use the Suica app on your phone, iPhone has it in the wallet. Suica is used at all train and bus stations, 7-11’s and other convenient stores, department stores and elsewhere. You will also need Japanese coins for some vending machines. Suica is also accepted on most modern vending machines.
An additional note if you are still reading: the review above by susususu is not accurate at all. I was there three nights and heard sirens less than five times and they were so quiet. You had to be awake to hear them. Also, the ac/heating systems were fully controlled by the tenant, this person did not bother to learn. Btw, the panel is fully intuitive and a child could figure it out. The only thing you have to remember is to turn it on upon arrival, set your desired temperature then don’t touch it again. The beds are on the firm side but that is much better than being too soft. Four pillows are provided for a queen bed, two soft and fluffy and two thicker and firmer pillows. I was impressed with the...

Nestled in a prime location, **Citadines Harbourfront Yokohama boasts effortless access to the vibrant Chinatown, an array of charming local eateries, convenient stores, and cultural landmarks like museums. For those who enjoy a scenic stroll, the dock is within walking distance, offering a peaceful waterside retreat.
Upon arrival, guests are greeted by an impressive foyer with soaring ceilings, though the dark brown exposed brickbwalls and black carpet dampen the initial ambiance, especially for late-night check-ins. That can be overcome by some colourful contempory paintings and light vibrant colourhung on the walls. A brighter, more inviting setup could transform the space into a warm welcome for weary travelers.
The lobby lounge and guest lounge offer a comforting touch with high-quality capsule coffee, perfect for a quick energy boost or a relaxed moment before venturing out. An added convenience is the communal laundry, catering to long-term guests who appreciate practical amenities.
Rooms are clean and bright. However, the overhead lighting is poorly positioned, failing to deliver optimal illumination. The bathroom, while modern, falls short of being senior-friendly*—the *high-sided bath and its horizontal metal bar could benefit from a more accessible slanted design at a higher position. The toilet seat, an interesting novelty, wasn't exactly a highlight worth lingering over. The handwash and bodywash soap / detergents were too harsh to the skin, and must be discontinued and replaced.
For the increasing number of English-speaking international travelers, the lack of English proficiency among reception staff is a notable drawback. With today's technological advancements, simple solutions like electronic translators could significantly enhance customer service. However, despite the language barrier, the **staff's courtesy was commendable.
In terms of amenities, the studio apartment is well-equipped, featuring a safe, oven, fridge, kettle, cutkeries and cooking essentials. The TV promises Chromecast functionality**, but connectivity issues hindered access to this feature—an improvement in tech integration would elevate the experience.
While the bufet breakfast and café remained untested during this stay, future visitors may want to explore these offerings.
Overall, Citadines Harbourfront Yokohama tops in its location and practicality but could elevate the guest experience with refined lighting, accessibility improvements, and enhanced English-speaking front deskservice. A few tweaks could turn a good stay into a truly...

Positives: Room is complete with a comfy bed, nice bathroom complete with bath and shower typical of Japanese hotels. As it is new, everything is very clean. Lots of storage, and the A/C is powerful. We had a complete kitchen with a Balmuda toaster oven which was fantastic, dishes and silverware, and a washer-dryer unit we used daily. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable. Wi-Fi had zero security but was good and fast with my own VPN. Floor and door sound insulation were top notch. In the bedroom with the door closed you could not hear anything from the kitchen/living/dining area.
Perfect location to get around as it is directly above the Nihon-Ōdori station, which you can use to get to Minatomirai, Yokohama, Shinjuku, Shibuya—wherever—via the Minatomirai/Toyoko lines.
Meeting/social room and balcony are great, with ice machine, vending machine and free Nespresso coffee. The exercise room was also good and enjoyed that.
There were negatives: We asked to extend our stay by an hour. We were willing to pay whatever, but they told us we had to download the ASR app and sign up for the service. After fiddling with their poorly written app for over thirty minutes, we gave up and just said we’ll just check out at the regular time. The room we were in had an enormous number of storage areas that were either not lit or poorly lit; a previous guest left stuff in one of the storage cubbies and the cleaners didn’t find it. The green LEDs on the aircon controls are incredibly bright and disturbing during sleep. Covered them and it was better. Road noise and ambulances can be annoying; we were on the fourth floor and when large trucks passed you felt it. There is also a persistent and annoying whistle from the range oven vent when the A/C is on. The cleaners were varied in quality and service. Most days the room was cleaned well; one day I came back to see at least six rooms’ doors propped open while they were cleaning for at least an hour, and so I could have walked into any of the rooms. I walked into mine, left some things there, and walked out. Could have stolen anything. And an hour later a cleaning lady rang our door to ask if the room was clean. It was fine, but strange. Minor thing: kept getting requests to pay NHK for service on the...
