Ok so if I like it why four stars. I am having an issue with hyatts that make me eat breakfast in the club but I’ll get to that. Easy to get to from haneda airport with a bus which costs ¥800 yen and then a five minute walk. If you are a globalist you check in on third floor they will escort you since you can’t get there without a key. Very pleasant service and they offer a tea and towel while they process your check-in. Very nice touch. The room we were upgraded to was a suite with living room nice bathroom and bedroom. Had a wonderful view. When I went to happy hour last night it was nice to see that no children under 12 were allowed during the happy hour. Some parents tried but were advised of policy. I am a parent, I love children however with more parents than ever travelling with children I do wish for some time apart from them. This was nice and at 7p when it was desert time and they were allowed they were now everywhere. I returned at 715p to find the desserts were almost gone. I didn’t stay however I’m sure they bought more out. This morning for breakfast at club families with children spread out so no quiet place. They didn’t offer cereal and it took 15 minutes for oatmeal. You can get congee though on buffet. The fruit selection was very poor and the pineapple was small slices like bite size with the rind skin still on. By the time I cut it away it was barely a bite. No berries no stone fruit. It was sad. I would rather offer to pay an extra fee say $10 a person and eat in the restaurant. Hyatt doesn’t offer this option but for business people and adults with our children it should. As I watched a child lower her face mask and wipe her arm across her nose with no parent right there I was sad I was now eating at this buffet. Rules should say no child at buffet alone who is under 12. They just don’t understand hygiene and it’s not their fault. All in all I enjoyed the hotel and my staff. Super friendly and helpful staff. I hope they take my ideas to heart. It is a nice place they have a beautiful shop for take away food and it’s...
Read moreWow, are all Hyatts this good?
Location: Two blocks from Chinatown and about as far as the nearest entrance to Nihon-Odori station. Though the Citadines Exit (#4, I think?) is technically closer, I think Exit 3 is a better choice — it's across the street but has escalators instead of the small elevator (with queues) at Exit 4.
Staff: Friendly and efficient. Had no problems receiving our large bags shipped from Nagoya. Restaurant staff were particularly great, expertly navigating difficult interactions with one customer who was entitled and downright rude. Buffet Uncle, you know who you are, and you should be ashamed of yourself. 🤨
Room: We booked a Deluxe Twin directly with Hyatt; our spacious room looked out over the water towards Yokohama Bay Bridge. The bathroom had a separate water closet and wet room for the shower and tub, and the sink area could be closed off by clever sliding doors. We also really liked the coffee machine in our room.
Internet & TV: WiFi was symmetrical and acceptably fast. TV had a Chromecast function through the Hyatt app or QR Code.
Food: You'll definitely be spoiled for choice at the breakfast buffet; I kept coming back to the french toast, rich in flavour and wonderfully custardy in a way I've never had before. The staff will take your coffee or tea order when they seat you, but you can make their lives easier by getting refills yourself. I was especially impressed with how they handled a large group of cruise passengers one morning — there was a lineup to get in but for the amount of people waiting it moved very quickly. And once in the restaurant, there was plenty of space and food for everyone.
If we ever have the good fortune of visiting Yokohama again this fine property will definitely be our first choice. I'll further say that we'll be considering Hyatts elsewhere based on our...
Read moreWe had some of the worst service we’ve ever received from a Hyatt property. Particularly, the club lounge is abysmal. They don’t allow children into the lounge for cocktail hour (which is when all of the good food is available). This is not posted on their website whatsoever and you are told when checking in, as if that is somehow useful to someone who has flown across the world to your hotel. They offer a “picnic” basket of prepackaged crackers and cookies, tea and beer as a consolation for children not being able to have all of the meat, vegetables, fruit, juice, etc. The policy is poorly designed and horribly executed. I did not see the older man behind the desk at the club so much as look up from his computer the 3 days we were there, except one time I saw a small child come in during cocktail hour and he immediately ran over to the family to inform them of their error in allowing her in. The whole thing is insane! Truly awful experience for a well-traveled family. We’ve stayed at Hyatts across 5 continents in the past year and this is the worst Hyatt service we have ever received. The place is just stingy and lacking customer service. The housekeeping was impeccable, which we appreciated. No acknowledgement of our status upon checkin. They tried to get us to just sit in the lobby for 2 hours prior to 3PM checkin, and finally came to their senses and allowed us up to the club to sip on some water. We presented a credit card at checkin, which is also on the Hyatt account and reservation, but for some reason had to present the card again at checkout… something we’ve never encountered. The whole place just seems undertrained and was shocking given that we’ve been in Japan for 5 weeks and had incredible service at every other non-Hyatt hotel we stayed at. Hyatt is missing...
