We chose this hotel as we were sailing out from the port on the following day and wanted a cheap place to stay. We paid approximately AUD$135 for two people including free wifi and breakfast. The walk to the port with our luggage was convenient enough but could be difficult for someone with poor fitness (the last bit is slightly up hill). It took us about 15 minutes. The hotel was right opposite the baseball stadium and as we were checking in we could see a game was on that night with lots of supporters around. We were worried that his would make it quite noisy but it was surprisingly quiet. There are two Toyoko hotels next two each other (Stadium-mae 1 & 2). The number 1 is on the main road that the stadium sits on and the number 2 is slightly around the corner. Check in and out was easy enough and storage of our luggage until our cruise later that day wasn't a problem. Chinatown was an easy walk and there were loads of places to eat around the hotel. The room was your typical Japanese business hotel with a hard bed and very cosy (no room to swing a cat). I asked for an additional pillow and this was provided with no issues. Breakfast was good enough, lots of Japanese to choose from with some breads and jams for people who prefer a European breakfast. I would stay here again without an issue as it was a lot cheaper than the majority of the hotels we looked at...
Read moreAt the end of July this year ( 2011 ) I had to travel to Yokohama at short notice to attend a funeral. I could not stay with my son in Yokohama, but he booked me into what he called a business hotel. I arrived there in trepidation as to what I would find.||||The reception area was bright and the staff were so friendly, despite only having a few words of English and I had only a few words of Japanese! I was a bit concerned when told my room was on the 13th floor, because of the worry about earthquakes, but the room was lovely, and when there was a small after shock on the Saturday early morning, it was as safe as houses. The staff were very attentive to ensure everyone was O.K. The bathroom was adequate, tthe bed clean and the mattress firm but very comfortable and the window worked. The breakfast was a basic mix of Japanese and European ( though I was the only non Japanese there!) There were noodles, Miso, scrambled eggs, coffee, pickles and other dishes. The staff couldn't have been nicer, they were willing and polite, and I will certainly go there again. The hotel was 5 minutes from a station which was on both the local lines and the bullet train line, so Tokyo centre was a matter of 20 minutes away.||The hotel is ideally situated for Tokyo and Yokohama exploring, is clean and I would highly...
Read moreI stayed here on business last summer and although there weren't any glaring problems it was a little lacklustre. The rooms are a bit gloomy, the fixtures and decoration all a bit dated. In the corridors they continuously play horrible tinkling music which makes you feel you are about to be stalked by an evil clown or something! The staff were very good and the breakfast buffet was absolutely delicious which was a surprise for this part of Japan where they are not so use to accommodating Western tastes as they might be in Tokyo. I wouldn't write home about this, but if you find yourself staying here, it is...
