Kamenoi Bessou is a very traditional Japanese hotel in Yufuin. It is located right next to the beautiful Kinrin Lake. One week before our visit, they called me on the phone to confirm our arrival date and time, dinner and breakfast arrangement, and other special requests. On arrival, we were greeted in the driveway by a staff member who knew me by name (quite a surprise). We were lead to a comfortable lounge where hot towel, welcome drink, and homemade snack were served. After we were done with the paperwork, a staff lead us to our spacious Japanese style unit. She showed us the room in great details. We chose to have our dinner in their famous restaurant and again the staff knew me by name on arrival. The restaurant live up to its reputation. Both the service quality and the food served were excellent. After dinner, we relax and walked around the beautiful garden. The next morning, we woke up early and had a great morning walk around the beautiful Kinrin Lake. On our way back to our unit, a security guard stopped us at the front entrance , checked and make sure we were their guests (probably because he saw me carrying a camera and wanted to make sure that I am not a visitor from outside). By the time we returned to our unit, a staff member was already at our front door ready to serve breakfast. We tried both the Japanese and American breakfast and both were very good. After breakfast, a taxi we booked the day before was already waiting in the driveway. We were escorted to the taxi by two of their staff members and they showed their sincere appreciation of our visit to their hotel at departure. In conclusion, Kamenoi Bessou is a great place to relax with great privacy. Service quality is nothing less than a 5 stars hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who plan to visit Yufuin. Thank you...

It is located near the lake and within walking distance of some small cafes and shops. The lake is very popular with Korean tourist bus groups!||We arrived mid afternoon and were able to check in and go to the room. The front office staff didn’t speak much English but a very lovely lady who spoke some English was able to show us around our room and also served our dinner to us. ||Our room was very large with a separate bedroom area from the lounge although older. It was apparently one of the older ryokans in the area. We didn’t see a lot of other guests (although we didn’t go to the public bath). It has a private bath in the room which was lovely!||The dinner we had was a keiseki and was exceptional - one of the best we have had. We could also choose from sake and wine options to go with the meal. ||The ryokan also had a lounge area where you could listen to old albums and a bar. ||We had a great breakfast in our room the next morning. We had the option of either a western or Japanese breakfast. I had the western breakfast with soup (?), yogurt,|Omelette with sausage and ham, as well as toast. It was very well done!||Check out was at 1100. ||Yufuin and Kamenoi Besso was definitely one of the highlights...
