Cafe La Ruche — Restaurant in Yufu

The location of this cafe is right beside Kirin Lake Yufuin, and the view from the lanai or outdoor seat is very nice. However, during my visit, there were many people, and it was a bit crowded, so that you couldn’t enjoy the scenic view at the cafe.

The food was mediocre, and surprisingly, I saw flies flying around the pastry area.

The staff are pretty busy, and I think they need to add more staff to assist the other guests to make the order process more efficient.

The price is on the pricey side since its location is in the tourist destination and next to one tourist spot.

They also offer cafe products to take home or good as souvenir.

My only tip is to visit when they open to get a seat outdoors and enjoy a peaceful and quiet coffee...

Honestly I think the food here was a little bit of a let down for us. We weren’t too thrilled with the things that we ordered - have had better elsewhere. The coffee was decent though and the baked goods were alright.

What makes this place outstanding is the view and the atmosphere. The restaurant is tidy and clean - and the lake is just always a beautiful site. Seating is usually no problem as well, we managed to find seating for 5 and a place for a stroller quite easily.

Arrived around 9:30 on a Tuesday, there were only a couple of tables open, for two people, so I was able to sit down quickly. For larger groups it would have been a bit of a wait!! Even on a weekday, this place is packed from start to finish! The view is great and the food is delicious, I ordered the breakfast plate which had a nice variety of food. It's nice to sit here and enjoy the view, but since so many people are trying to get seats, I feel bad about staying for too long after I'm done eating. I recommend this cafe, especially right...
