We stayed here for one night and we had two meals here, which are dinner and breakfast. I’d say this experience is pretty good. I enjoyed almost everything, especially their hot spring. Very classic and enjoyable. I felt rejuvenated after it. It’s super recommended! The woman who helped us to check in was wonderful. Thank you. Our room was very nice, too. I can tell this hotel renovation and room set up is very classic! We checked-in to “Tatami style” room. While we went for dinner, the hskp team came to our room to provide the turndown service. Our Japanese style bedding was completed as we’re back after dinner. One thing I’d suggest is the front desk’s knowledge, I purchased two postcards and I brought to front desk to mail out. Three staff were there and they couldn’t find out the price of a stamp. 😅 however, I was able to send it out when I went back to their souvenir shop. Huge thank you shout out to them! Both meals are buffet style. I enjoyed the dinner the most! On the other hand, the breakfast was wonderful, too. The only thing I’d recommend is the staff can be more attentive since our table was full of empty plates, and I saw the staff walked around our table a few times and still ignored it a few times with her hands empty as she came and left. That’s not so impressive. At the end, I brought it to another side of the boardroom for another team member. Otherwise, the location is excellent. It’s got complimentary courtesy shuttle for its guests from and to the hotel and the train station. It’s available every 30 minutes. And the ski resorts are accessible, too. Rental equipment, lessons, resorts, other snow entertainment are all connected...
Read moreFirst time visiting Yuzawa and NASPA New Otani exceeded all my expectations. Where do I start? ||The room|We booked a Japanese style room for 3 (12 tatami mats) and it was huge with an oversize bathroom. Beautifully decorated and very functional and of course, super clean. Lovely views of the surrounding mountains, fast WiFi and separated toilet and shower rooms.||The hotel|Located a short drive from the Echigo Yuzawa JR station with a complimentary shuttle service every 30 minutes right outside the station entrance. Perched on top of the many small hills overlooking the town, the hotel itself is actually massive with 6 stories. The hotel has their own ski resort (ski only) and have us free lift tickets for the duration of our stay (perfect as we were there for the snow). Hotel also has gender separated onsen which was really awesome to soak up some of the soreness after a day in the field. There's also some restaurants, ski rental and ski school all on site.||Service|Great service as you'd expect from a Japanese hotel. Daily cleaning and turn down service (is also when they'll set up your beds for the Japanese style room.||Location|Just over an hour away from Tokyo station, Yuzawa is definitely a great place to ski. The snow was great and the entire area turns into a ski town. The location of the hotel was somewhat isolated. The shuttle service was great but there's really nothing around the hotel and not really walkable into town in the winter. The street leading into town is quite dark and although not that far too walk, seemed pretty dangerous with the snow, ice and traffic. So either way at the hotel and...
Read moreIf you are looking for hotels in this area, I am assuming you will be coming in the winter for the winter sports here, and although NASPA seems a little out of the way from Echigo Yuzawa Station, rest assured there is a shuttle that will bring any guest to and fro from the hotel, so no worries about getting there yourself in the cold of winter; just make sure you are arriving before 9pm if not there should not be any buses beyond that.
The hotel itself may be aged, but be comforted with the fact that everything is still in working order and still gives a charm of a Japanese-Western vibe. Every staff has impeccable warmth and helpfulness and especially when it comes to the senior staff, you can see they really uphold their work with great pride, ensuring quality for every guest and hospitality.
Not only is the place no issue of accessibility, again assuming you are here for the winter sports, the last thing after a hard day or before you start a full day of skiing and/or snowboarding that will probably tire you out, breakfast and dinner are provided and the quality again is amazing. Every meal is a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine and the food is definitely on point.
If you are travelling with children, NASPA is definitely child-friendly; the meals even have a special kids spread with child-friendly utensils.
Do note that NASPA is a ski-only resort, so if you are a snowboarder, you may still stay at NASPA but to snowboard you'll need to visit the other slopes and resorts nearby yeah!
Stay warm and...
