Yuzawa Hotel — Hotel in Yuzawa

[late post, stayed in Feb 2025] I have mixed reviews. Initially planned to visit Echigo Yuzawa for a day trip from Tokyo but decided to stay for a night and we simply wanted a place to crash. This was the only hotel available online so we booked it. Got two rooms and both rooms were ok ie we didn’t see bed bugs nor crazy stuff. Check in was a little slow. There was no one at reception and I didn’t know how to check us in online via their table. Thankfully someone came - a guy. He was a little slow and dint understand English but he did try to help. After checking in we took the stairs (no lift to our rooms)

Room was basic and good enough for a family of 3. There was a heater which we used (it was snowing and quite cold). The hotel looks quite haunted though. There is a public heated pool and an outdoor private onsen which I tried. It was really good despite the cold weather. But again, there was absolutely no one there…

A few minutes to Yuzawa Kogen ski resort but maybe 7-10 mins to the train station. Also we didn’t get food during our stay. Not sure if hotel provides it at all but it didn’t shop up as an option. Overall it was ok but I’d stay somewhere...

Yuzawa Hotel||Pros:|1. extremely convenient, 3-5mins walking distance from Yuzawa Kogen, close to everywhere;|2. only a few steps upward slope from the main street (i really dont like walking up for a long distance, esp. with ski boots!);|3. despite that the indoor onsen pool is quite small, the hotel has a outdoor bath can be booked for private use,each room for 45mins per day. Its so nice! Just like those high-end hotels;|4. Very clean and tidy;|5. The owner can speak some Putonghua and a little bit of English;|6. As we moved in on Sunday, everywhere is full thus we were allocated with a smaller room. On Monday,the owner was so kind and offered us a large room for more space;|7. Our room,despite is a smaller room with 8 pcs of carpet, has the toilet seperate from the sleeping area which we appreciate much;|8. Staff help to make the beds (tatami);|9. Staff clean and tidy up the room everyday. ||Cons:|1. No lift|2. Ski drying...
