This review is for the rooftop. Called to make a reservation for 10 persons and I was told that because we don't have a even ratio of men to women that we wouldn't be allowed entrance and that it's "couples only" When I told them that a 6:4 ratio of men to women was close enough, reservations told me "NO" I think this policy is borderline discriminatory. I hung up, redialed the hotel and asked to speak to a GM and then I spoke to the food and beverage manager Mohammad Rashid who was helpful in securing our reservation. I can't change the make up of my family. We have 6 men and 4 ladies. It is what it is. Exceptions should have been allowed. Most of us flew in from the USA to have a fun night. Mr. Rashid pleasantly allowed us to have a table. We actually ended up having 5 men and 5 Women.
We had a great time at the rooftop. DJ was great. Was told we needed to spend 40JOD per person which was not going to be a problem. I told the server all orders go through me and I alone will pay the tab at the end of the night. She even jokingly pinky promised me that she was only give me the tab. We ordered 2 bottles and I ordered a third bottle when out of no where 2 giant boards of fried food comes to the table to the tune of 160 JOD. I had not ordered this food. Come to find out the server told one of my guest to order food because we didn't reach our minimum yet. That was of course before we ordered the third bottle. I'm not sure what that conversation was like or if prices were mentioned, but ultimately we didn't want food but she convinced him to order some. I don't think my native Jordanian cousin would have ordered that much food. She didn't ask me, and the third bottle would have sufficed to reach the minimum. What kind of service is this to approach people's guests that they aren't ordering enough and to just go ahead and order an obnoxious amount of food without peoples consent? Was she desperate and trying to inflate the bill to get a bigger tip? This is down right disrespectful. Why assume we needed that much food and why not at least ask the person paying if it's ok? It's shameful and greedy. She admitted to taking the order without my consent and handed me the bill. We left with 5 stuffed large carryout boxes later. I WILL...
Read moreSubject: Deep Disappointment with Our Stay at W Amman
My husband and I decided to switch from our usual stay at Rotana to W Amman this year after reading many positive reviews. Unfortunately, this turned out to be a major mistake.
On the second day of our stay, a sum of $780 was stolen from the in-room safety box while we were out. We immediately contacted the hotel, and Mr. Nedal from security visited our room. He assured us that by the end of the day, everything would be clarified.
However, the final response from the hotel’s security team was extremely disappointing. We were told that according to the security logs, the only person who entered our room was a member of the housekeeping staff — who denied taking the money. The manager told us bluntly that we could call the police if we wished, but that the hotel had done all it could. No apology was offered, no empathy was shown, and no attempt to make us feel supported or reassured.
We considered filing a police report, but were advised by an attorney that this could result in being held in Jordan until the case was resolved. Given the relatively small amount of money and the disruption this would cause to our lives, we made the difficult decision not to pursue it legally. However, what we couldn’t accept was staying in the same hotel after such a violation and lack of basic support. We cancelled the remainder of our stay and returned to Rotana.
What was perhaps most shocking was the “solution” proposed by Mr. Nedal: that in the future, to avoid such incidents, we should keep the Do Not Disturb sign on even when we’re not in the room — or only allow cleaning staff in while we’re physically present. This is not a solution any guest should be told in a 1-star hotel, let alone a 5-star international brand. We stay at hotels to feel safe, secure, and relaxed — not to worry about our belongings being stolen from safes.
Despite this incident, we want to emphasize that it will not stop us from visiting Jordan — a country we love deeply and return to every year. But we sincerely hope W Amman management reflects seriously on how this matter was handled and works on improving how they deal with guest concerns, safety, and customer care in the...
