| ||So this has been a perfect example to justify how a bad behaviour can overpass all the good works that you may do. We travelled to Almaty in a night flight and reached the hotel early in the morning. Greeted by the helpdesk team (my bad to have not noted their names), who were very warm and did offer an early check-in but after a waite of some 1.5 hours which was completely fine with us.||Since our 3 Year Old needed her breakfast – we entered their restaurant and met this lady called ‘’Perizat’’ at the welcome desk. Certainly the most unfriendly staff met so far here (and otherwise also I guess) with a stern look and no consideration.||(i) Our ask for the menu so we can order (which was ofcourse a paid one for us) was met by a ‘rolling eyes’ reaction – as she was busy checking her face on her mobile screen and we disrupted her by asking for a service! She naturally didn’t bother to ask us for anything when we entered and it was us who had to walk upto her for this. When the order was placed, the waiter went to ask Perizat something (don’t know why and what) and she gave us another weird look and asked him for something – which we understood later was asking to randomly pick 3 bread rolls and give us. No attention to know if the ordered food reached us !||(ii) We checked if there is a manager whom we could speak with but were told he is on off||(iii) The next day was to be a early day for us and for some reasons our daughter didn’t eat the breakfast. We had some ‘choco’pops’ which she had taken in her plate and since she loves them I took the leap to ask if we can carry it along by the girl who was serving us. She agreed and we asked if we can get a disposable box for it – while searching for it, she also reached Perizat – who again gave us another of her look and later came up to us with a message on her translator – ‘’you cant take that’’. While we are well aware of the policy to not take the breakfast items outrside, but it’s the first time any hotel denied taking the food for a baby!.. that also what was there on her table and nothing additional. Certainly Perizat didn’t bother to explain anything but the message was clear – ok to throw off the food but not let a baby eat it outside.||(iv) The next day after the above, while we were at our table, saw an elderly couple walk-in. Probably they had taken the buffet for 1 only and the other one they wanted to pay off – to understand this, Perizat took 5-7 mins. Not just the kids, she was extremely unpleasant with the senior citizens too!||Location is good. Food was just ok – only bothered to have breakfast here, more so since we didn't want to see Perizat and bear her reactions!. Travel Conceiage is good, Aliyar does a good job. The staff at the reception are all good and very warm, certainly want to help you in all the ways they can but absolutey not sure why would you want to have an incourteous and rude staff like Perizat at the welcome desk of your restaurant – her behaviour is so bad all throughout for my only takeaway of the stay is an absolute NO TO STAY HERE IF...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible hotel Taxi service! I ordered an airport taxi shuttle beforehand (1 night ahead) and agreed to pay twice the price (usual price from Novotel to airport is around 3k tenge max, I paid 6,5k tenge just to ensure my kids and I can safely and on time arrive to the airport. The taxi driver arrived on time, I asked him to help me with the bags (I'm a female traveller with 2 children), he took 2 small carry on items leaving the big bag and left outside, put them in the trunk, then because I had my hands full with other bags I asked my elder one to go outside and ask the driver if he can help me with another bag (these are all wheels bag, so no hassle honestly). He came back, aggressively approached me and said really rude (trust me I was sure he's going to hit me) - "Hey, you! Can't you take your own bags yourself!!" I was in shock! I said okay can you please bring my 2 bags back because I'm going to cancel the taxi as now I'm scared to go with him anywhere, he just dumped my 2 bags on the road outside the hotel and left. Reception of the hotel was absolutely useless, couldn't do anything, just apologized and seemed to have no authority over the taxi driver or the taxi company, which is very very suspicious and weird to me and I would definitely recommend the headquarter check the entire contracting system and how and on what basis the hotel management would hire this type of not just very low quality company but dangerous too! I seriously thought he's going to attack me and no one of the hotel personnel can do anything, this is totally unacceptable! As much as it ruins the image of the hotel, it ruins the image of the country as well! I stayed in Novotel Almaty last year too and it was way better in terms of stuff politeness and readiness to assist. It is sad that the hotel is downgrading that fast in quality, I love Novotel chain and this is usually our number one choice globally, but I would highly recommend to avoid Novotel Almaty city center branch for sure! Total disappointment and...
