When traveling to Bishkek, there were a couple of options for hotels in the city. I was looking for a hotel that was centrally located and had access to transportation services since part of my flight left early in the morning. While doing to research, I noticed Hyatt was having a deal on their properties within Central Asia and so I was getting a good deal on the room and it included Club Access, so I decided to book the Hyatt Regency Bishkek. It was very easy to book the room via the Hyatt app and very easy to communicate with the hotel regarding airport transportation (airport transportation is not included but can be arranged from the hotel). The hotel is located near the city center and thus is a 45-minute drive from the airport. From the hotel, it is a 10-15 minute walk to many of the city's attractions and main restaurants and you can also easily access transportation from the hotel. One of the key perks of the hotel is that the staff generally have a good command of English so it is easy to connect and communicate requests. ||From the outside the hotel does not look like much but it is grand, but dated, on the inside. You enter into a wide lobby that had the check-in desks towards the back, a sitting area in the front, as well as access to the restaurant and the elevators. There was also a money changer and ATM located next to the check-in desks. The lobby looked nice, had plenty of seating space, and look decently refurbished but you could tell it was an older property. I quickly checked-in and received the key to my club room floor room. ||The hallway was laid out in a T with the elevators on the long side and rooms jutting out from either side. The club room was in the middle across from the elevators. The room itself was nice and spacious, a bit outdated, but comfortable and had all the amenities. As you entered, there was a sitting area to the left and a desk right in front. Next to the desk was a chest with drawers on the bottom and a TV on top. Next to the TV were windows that covered the entire length of the wall and it led to the bed which was across from the TV on the other side of the room. It was a double size bed, big enough and comfortable enough but definitely not a newer bed. There were bedside tables on either side. The bathroom was located behind the bedroom and you could access it through a hallway which also contained the big closets. The bathroom itself was a good size and contained a sink, a toilet, and a walk-in shower; very nice amenities and very comfortable but again not the newest appliances or furnishings. The bathroom also came with complimentary soap, lotion, body wash, and many other toiletries, and the room came with a complimentary fruit basket and complimentary water. Overall, the room was spacious and comfortable just not the newest furnishings.||My room came with Club Access and I was on the Club Floor which made access very convenient. As you entered the Club Room, there was the dining area in front which offered complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail reception in the evening. All the time they offered complimentary tea, coffee, water, and soft drinks. There was a small seating area and a computer and printer so you can get some work done. The cocktail reception food was decent and filing enough and the complimentary drinks were very good. The hotel is a full service hotel so other amenities included a restaurant, a fitness center, a pool, complimentary wifi, as well as concierge services. The service was very good and really attentive to the guests.||Overall it was a comfortable stay at the Hyatt Regency Bishkek. The staff was outstanding and the location was central to many of the cities attractions. The room was comfortable if a bit older but was comfortable and offered a spacious and good nights sleep. Complimentary wifi was strong enough to stream videos as well as do work; so overall a pleasant stay in Bishkek with...
Read moreFIND ANYWHERE ELSE, HOT ROOMS WITH NO AC. Unbelievably miserable experience at the Hyatt Bishkek. Extremely outdated rooms, and no working air conditioning (A/C) unit in any of the rooms. Called front desk at 10pm after long day of travel and just having finished dinner to let them now my AC wasn't working. They assured me they will contact their "engineers" and have some be sent to check on it. 45 minutes goes by, sweating in the room so I give the front desk a call back, to which they answered "Our engineer came and said everything was working fine". Shocker to me because nobody ever knocked or checked the AC in my room at all. I ask again if they can send somebody, so they tell me "Okay, we will change your AC to your desired temperature in the system". Another 45 minutes goes by, still not working so I give front desk another call, to which they answer "You know you can change the AC temperature manually by yourself right?". ||Taken aback, I told assured them I understood how to change the temperature on an AC unit, so they sent another "engineer" to once again check the AC and also bring a portable AC unit. Engineer comes, does the exact same thing I did to change the temperature and assures me to just wait for it to get colder. An hour passes, room temperature is still hot and has not budget at all, so I give reception another call. A new receptionist answers, and I have to go through the whole process of explaining that I understand how to change the temperature on the AC, and that an "engineer" already came to check as well and it is still not working. The engineer comes back, once again does the same thing and tells me to wait. I wait until 1 AM until I've had enough, call reception to ask for a room change, to which they thankfully swiftly relocate.||In my new room, I set the AC once more to 18 degrees and wait an hour for the room to get colder. Low and behold, the room does not change temperature at all. I raise my arm to the AC vent and once again it is simply blowing air like a fan would, nothing cold. I call front desk once more, it is now 2:30 AM by the way with a 10AM flight the next morning, and they tell me they can set the temperature from their desk. I tell them the whole experience I've already just been through (Since it is a new receptionist), so she tells me she'll send another engineer and a portable AC. She also doesn't hesitate to remind me to "Just open the window". A valid point, but not one when you consider the Hyatt as labelling themselves with prestige and being an "acclaimed" 5-star hotel. When I pose the question "Is the whole hotel AC system broken?", the receptionist answers "Maybe, it is an old AC system." A bewildering statement for a '5-star hotel' and one that embraces the Hyatt name.||Definitely the worst, most unorganized, uncomfortable, and frustrating 5-star hotel experience I've had in my life, and would recommend people visiting Bishkek to look for literally any other accommodation. After spending a week in yurts and guest houses in the Kyrgyz mountains, I thought staying at the Hyatt would be a nice treat, but am now surprised that the Hyatt was undoubtedly by far the worst experience out of them all. In all honesty, I would've preferred to simply hear it wasn't working form the beginning, so I could simply rebook and move to another accommodation before the clock struct 2:30AM and I'm laying in a...
Read moreI found this hotel to be in a great location for a first visit to the city, with some key areas being an easy walk away. While not quite living up to the really high end experience promised by the website it still provided a comfortable stay and I’d happily consider again in the future.||The staff at reception were all friendly and could speak good English, but it did feel like they were all fairly new and a bit unsure of what they were doing. Both checking in and out took an age and I was always left wondering if requests like arranging airport transfers would be followed up on. I was very grateful for a member of the team to allow me to check out an hour later than the advertised midday time, but I still got a phone call to the room bang on 12 to say that I was late.||My room was on the fifth floor overlooking the rear of the hotel. The view was okay for a city centre hotel although the large tower block under construction will be imposing once completed! The room was very spacious although was starting to feel a little dated. The TV was an adequate size with kettle and empty mini bar below, a large working desk and armchair and table. The air-conditioning worked well and there were electric sockets next to the bed which was great.||The bathroom was equally as spacious with plenty of storage space and lots of amenities. The walk in shower was huge with good toiletries and decent power from the standard shower head. Overall the room was comfortable and provided really good sleep quality, with no noise from outside or adjacent rooms.||The outdoor pool is a good and unique facility. It is open to the public for a charge so can get quite busy but there was a good amount of seating both round the pool and on the grass. Service was a bit hit and miss, even when sat at the small outdoor bar, but there’s a decent range of drinks and cocktails available as well as some decent food. It was nice for there to be plenty of misting fans around during the hot weather, and the music on Sunday afternoon gave a great atmosphere.||The bar on the ground floor is open from 6pm and with the large screens a good place to watch sport. It was never too busy during my stay but was a pleasant space, and although there were never any draught beers available the service was good.||The restaurant on the ground floor has a nice selection of food on the menu, but the tables outside at the front of the hotel fantastic. With the lighting in the evening and mist during the hot weather, it was a great place to relax with a surprisingly good atmosphere. Prices weren’t too bad either considering the location.||Overall it was a decent hotel for my weekend in the city and if you’re looking for somewhere with facilities onsite...
