You'd be better off throwing your money into a drainage ditch than attempting to enjoy a ballet at this pantomime-at-best establishment. I attended the Russian ballet here in 2021 only for it to be delayed by over 1-hour due to striking performers who felt that they weren't being paid enough compared with the Russian headliners...and I vowed never to return again, though unfortunately I'm prone to second-chance syndrome, and indeed attended once again on June 26th 2022, only to be issued the wrong seat twice! How utterly useless can staff be?! Their sole task is to allocate seats in a theatre they've likely worked at since Soviet times, and they're still stupendously incapable of interpreting the layout! In addition to this, babies are allowed into performances whilst sizable numbers of the audience text away on their phones, or hold up digital cameras two-feet into the air - whilst they chatter away with their inconsiderate plebeian rhetoric. Read moreA couple of days ago I watched opera Aida. While many of the young Kyrgyz actors and singers are still unremarkable, most of the older opera singers are very good. Many of them hold titles awarded when Kyrgyzstan was a part of the Soviet Union, when the artistic criteria for awards was very tough. If you have more time just buy a ticket and enjoy local opera plays or ballet performance. I watched my friend's singing - his name is Tair Beisheev, one of the rising opera stars of the country.
