We stayed at the Florens for three nights earlier this month. An email prior to our departure from the UK to request taxi transfer from the airport was quickly answered and our request dealt with, athough we could have got a train as the station is literally around the corner from the hotel. We were three couples, our friends were placed in the apartments, so had the use of a small kitchenette if they so desired, whilst we had a lovely large room with three single beds, table and chairs and plenty of wardrobe/drawer space. The bathroom appeared to have been recently renovated and the shower was lovely and hot. We did not have breakfast, having booked room only, but you could use the coffee machine between 7.30 a.m. and 10.30 a.m. if you wished. However, as a tea lover, I always take my own boiler and tea bags etc., but it was nice to be able to have fresh milk rather than the dried stuff. ||||The room was nice and clean, the beds were comfortable and there was a small flat screen television but cannot comment on this as we never switched it on, although our friends told us that Frost was on one evening. ||||The hotel is very well situated, within a few steps you enter the old town, which is absolutely lovely, the architecture, the churches and the cathedral are all stunning. We walked up to the castle and found it to be a wonderful viewpoint to see the town, it was very noticeable how green Vilnius is. ||||We found the Boksto Vartai (Tower Gate) Pub restaurant, which we liked so much we visited several times. The staff were fabulous, so friendly and so helpful. They even cooked us an english 'brunch' on the Sunday, which was absolutely delicious, the sausages were lovely.||||On the Saturday evening we found Sue's Indian Raja restaurant, which is across the road from the Cathedral. We had a lovely meal, which was also extremely well priced. However, be warned, the portions are HUGE. A tandoori chicken starter, was actually half a chicken! The staff were extremely helpful in advising on our menu choices and all six of us thoroughly enjoyed the experience. ||||We only had one "rip off" experience, which was at the Portobello bar, where they charged an eye watering 18 lits for a glass of wine, whereas we had been paying betwen 6 and 9 elsewhere. However, it was entirely our fault, the waitress had offered us a menu showing the prices and we did not look at it. It is a lovely place to sit and have a drink though, they have a really nice courtyard area. There are lots of little "treasures" in the narrow streets and alleyways, where you an stop for a coffee or a beer and have a snack or a meal, It is a very walkable place so we did not need to take a trip on the tourist buses, but they did seem to be quite popular. ||||We would like to go back to Vilnius and take a trip to Trakai next time, we will stay at the Florens again as it suited our needs perfectly. It is close to a railway line though, with associated noise, so may not suit anyone who is a...
Read moreThe location is good as it is only a short walk from both the bus station, railway station and market. The old town is also about a 10/15 mine stroll away. A much bigger sign is needed as it is easy to miss the entrance on Sodu St.Look for a bar with yellow plastic curtains and the entrance is opposite that on the RHS of the street. As has been mentioned, security when checking out is poor as there is no where to leave the keys .||You provide your own breakfast but there is tea and coffee provided and the use of a fridge, microwave ,cutlery and crockery.||My mattress had seen better days and the headboard squeeked. I solved that problem by sleeping with my head at the other end of the bed. The blind still let in light from the street lamp opposite . I solved that problem by opening my wardrobe door and keeping it propped open thus screening out the light.||The volume on the TV seemed to be permanently muted but I got BBC World News. WIFI was fine.I used ear plugs so slept OK. Plenty of hot water and a heated towel rail meant you can dry washing.||Certainly. attention to the stairwell is needed as it may put people off as it is pretty run down. Possibly it is a little overpriced but I don't have anything to compare it to. It is adequate for a short stay. Convenience is a big plus when staying here. There are a few bars nearby and Station 24 does food and is less than 100ms away. If you are looking to meet fellow travellers this is not the place as there...
Read moreThe location is great; short walking distance from central railway station (you can take buses from airport to the railway station), close to the old town. I basically walked to all my destinations in Vilnius, since this B&B is very much in the center. The entrance and the stairways were a bit disappointing, however when I got into the B&B it was quite OK. I had a big room with surprisingly tall ceiling, private bathroom & loo also private balcony! :) As others mentioned, there is no breakfast. But, there is a kitchen and a fridge. Wifi was fine, I accessed satellite channels on my TV. I received keys for my room and the main doors (for my late entrances).||The receptionist and apparently the only staff (Natalia) is a pleasant person, she speaks fluent English and is quite helpful...
