Botanical Retro-Cottage by StayCo - Riverview Pool — Hotel in George Town

Worst thing that ever happened to me here. This is my first time booking accommodation on Agoda and got some tempting discounts as a new user. My friend and I decided to book this accommodation for just one night because we were going to take the IELTS exam there. We ordered it three days before arrived, paid and confirmed and also got the order details.

Suddenly, the day before we left in the afternoon I got a message from the property directly asking us to cancel our order (on the grounds that we wanted to change the price, even though we had already paid and ordered it long ago).

We ask for help to prepare accommodation for just one night for those of us who have booked slots at IDP Penang for the IELTS exam, or to return our money as soon as possible because it is really needed.

But, they answered us for a very long time and gave a lot of meaningless reasons, also told us to ask Agoda for a refund (even though they knew that we couldn't do it because the date had already passed). In fact it is all the responsibility of those who have put us in this position. So with no other choice, we booked a new accommodation at a very short time and had to pay twice as much as before. while they don't even take responsibility and just leave our message like that.

I was very disappointed with the treatment I received and felt disadvantaged as a foreigner who are struggling...

We booked this unit in booking.com for 9th February - 13th February (Thaipusam) for the price of RM2000+/-. We mainly booked this unit since our relatives from India was coming to experience the beauty of Malaysia Thaipusam but ended up the host ask us to cancel it saying it's under maintenance like a week before the stay. We was totally confused what's going on and we ask for the proof but the host didn't bother to send. We was so disappointed with their activity and then here comes the story. I was scrolling Facebook searching homestay for next year thaipusam and i saw post of this unit saying available for thaipusam 2025. Do I look like a clown ? Another fun part is it says RM6500 for 3 nights. No wonder they lied to us saying it's under maintenance to earn 3x more income. Very disappointed. Ask customer from booking.com to cancel but can post on facebook add to let go for triple the price is very...

I feel really so bad with their service...feel like scam ready with EDITED PIC FROM THEIR PAGE...no wifi,no tv, dirty bathrooms with no lock, no towel(only one to 8 pax), when we call not have proper communication with us...feel like helpless when we ask to solve this kind of problem, i get reply 'will sent cleaning team but nobody come to clean or fix. We pay almost Rm700 really not worth for it...i book this homestay because of swimming pool but we not play in swimming pool because the pool is leaking and water was so dirty also monkeys are playing in the pool and water leaking at gardening area from roof. Better don't book if anybody wanna spent for good time here....its not worth for our money....really i feel so bad with...
