New Penang Murugan Hindu Temple in Malaysia – The Biggest Muruga Temple Outside India Waterfall Hilltop Hindu Temple at Penang in Malaysia is believed to be the biggest Murugan Temple outside India. The temple is also known as Arulmigu Bala Thandayuthapani Temple or Arulmigu Sri Balathandayuthabani Kovil. The temple was opened to public on June 29, 2012 after Mahakumbhabhishakam ceremony.
The temple is located above the old temple which was built in 1850. It was an important temple for Indian workers. The old small temple used to attract 700,000 people during Thaipusam festival. The temple is inspired by the Chola and Pallava temple in Tamil Nadu.

A highlight of the temple is a seven-storey 21.6m-tall gopuram.
The temple has 500 steps from the foothill to the temple.
The temple covers an area of 20,000sq ft
8.23 m-tall murti of Shiva welcomes the visitors at the foot of the hill.
The ceiling of the temple has 11 floral designs.

Beautiful architecture, serene & divine. The temple is open daily & welcome everyone that walks up to its doorstep. At certain time especially in the early morning or late in the evening, the temple dogs may be on guard... They may bark & charging towards you but don't be afraid, they don't mean any harm, in fact, they are very friendly.
There are monkeys on the temple ground too. Avoid feeding them to prevent them from being aggressive...
