I recently stayed at the Eastin Hotel, and here’s what I found. The hotel is situated just off the main highway, which means it’s about 15-20 minutes away from Georgetown, where most tourist attractions are located. However, it’s just a short walk to Queensbay Mall, which is a nice convenience. The hotel has a small bar, but I found it to be on the pricey side. The silver lining is that they offer discounts to guests on non-alcoholic items. The rooms are on the smaller and more basic side, especially considering the hefty price tag. Nonetheless, the service provided is reasonable. In addition, the Eastin Hotel also offers spa treatments, which can be a nice way to relax during your stay. Now, let’s talk about breakfast. From a Malaysian perspective, it might not meet expectations. However, they do offer a variety of European options. Unfortunately, the coffee machine seems a bit stingy, with free access limited to just a few hours. It feels a bit frugal in that regard. The Eastin Hotel is conveniently located for shopping at Queensbay Mall and offers spa treatments, but it may not offer the best value for money, especially with the small rooms and limited coffee access. However, the service provided is decent, making it a reasonable choice for some travelers.

It was a mixture of experience for me. I had one star, 3 star and 5 star. So averaging 3 star. 5 star was the staff. They were indeed very friendly, efficient and fast. Asked for a few additional items, they were very helpful, knowledgeable and fast in bringing it to my room The view from my room was great. Sea view and view of both bridges. Mesmerizing and relaxing. 1 star. Few things needed improvement. First they gave me 2 room cards. One was not even working and had to be changed. One accessed the room but didn't allow access to the executive lounge that I was entitled to. I was short of time and found it tedious to need to go down and update the card. Also the room smelled of cigarette even though it was a non smoking room. The couldn't change the room for me so they just sprayed it with perfume. But psychologically the smell I think lingered. Lastly the ceiling dripped water and I had to use a glass to catch the water so that I don't walk on WET carpet. It was late and I was lazy to move rooms 3 stars is their underground parking. The corners going up and down the different levels are tight and narrow. Mid size suv is ok (done slowly). Large size suv don't even bother.

Update (25 Feb 2025) This hotel continues to improve. Breakfast gets better with new options like harvesting your own vegetables ! A nice cupboard for all kinds of cheese. Gym is also 24hrs now. Next to improve is the carpeting of the corridor which do smell especially on a wet day. __________ Nice and clean. Loose weights in gym was attended to promptly. Gym has been upgraded. Would be good if it had mats for floor exercises. Only thing is the signage for lift is not adequately lit when viewed from walkway. Breakfast is good spread and flavourful. Salads are interesting and local fare is authentic. Family suite is nice.. spacious two level concept with bathroom and toilet on each level. Update (24 Apr 2024). Things are getting better here. What was good got better (service, food, rooms) and as a result occupancy is really high.

Having looked at several hotels in the area we chose this hotel because we were invited to Malaysia by family to spend Chinese New Year with them and did get invited to stay in their condo but as i was having to work while i was visiting i needed a reliable wifi which the condo did not have.|The Hotel was in the perfect location 5-10 minutes away from family location the wifi was excellent and the hotel is within 5 minutes to shops/bars and the huge Queens bay Mall shopping centre where you can eat and shop to your hearts content.|On arrival at the hotel we were welcomed by very friendly and helpful reception staff who gave us our room on the 9th floor (room 929 )|The reception area was huge spotlessly clean and the restaurant was just to the right and bar area to the left.|There were four lifts which you did not have to wait long for and on entering the room we had a view over looking apartments and the bay in the distance.|Room facilities included tv/mini fridge which was replenished daily large bed which again found very comfy and hair drier as well as a desk with light which was superb for me.|With regards to storage for clothes this let the hotel down slightly i did not think there was anywhere near enough storage space for our clothes but this maybe because this hotel caters more for business people i am not sure.|Bathroom was large enough and had usual complimentary stuff shower was okay but you had to leave it running sometimes for the water to get warm before you got in.|The rooms were cleaned every day and all staff in the hotel were excellent and so friendly and could not fault any of them.|The pool area is located on the 3rd floor and is really nicely set out but think could do with some parasols for shade.|Also due to the location of the hotel when you are around the pool area you are like to experience some vehicle noise from the free way that runs next to the hotel and also aircraft noise now and again due to the close proximity to Penang airport ( it is on the final approach path).|The hotel itself is spotless though and smells very fresh and forgot to mention there are free towels for around the pool which you get from a room next to the pool.|Now i have left the best to left the breakfast i personally think this hotel offers one of the best choices and quality of food i have ever had it was superb and the choice and quality was amazing in fact on my first morning it took me 20 minutes to choose what i wanted there was that much choice to suit every diet.||Pool opening hours are 7.00am till 9.00pm|Gym opening hours 5.00am till midnight|Breakfast 6.00am till 10.00am|Check in is from 2pm|Check out 12.00 noon|If i was visiting family again i would certainly choose this hotel again and can work round the shortage of storage space for clothes in the room but it would be great if this could be improved but overall i did enjoy my stay and was glad i picked...

We had a very disappointing experience. I surprised My Wife for our Wedding Anniversary but it turned out to be a blunder. We were told when we were checking in that we have to make a reservation to use the pool and this was not communicated to me earlier when I made the booking because if I knew I would have reserved for the pool usage as well. I brought My Wife there so that she can have a relaxing stay and enjoy the hotel facilities mainly and didn’t plan for any outing because that’s what we were looking forward to. So it was very disappointing and I raised my concern to Mr Al Fatah the duty manager and demanded that he make it right for us and he kept saying that he can’t do much and only after demanding again and again he agreed to give us a late check out the following day and a reservation to use the pool from 3-4pm. However it was still disappointing because our Wedding Anniversary was on the day we checked in. I asked Mr Al Fatah that I would like to speak to someone that can make things happen for me but he kept saying that there was no one else around. I am really not happy with what happened and because I was not told earlier that a reservation for swimming pool usage was needed to be done earlier and because of that we couldn’t use the pool on our Anniversary and we were both very disappointed. The confirmation email of the room booking didn’t say that early reservation for the pool usage is needed. If I knew I would have made the reservation much earlier when I booked the room because My Wife’s happiness is very important for me and I always make sure that everything is in order whenever I surprise her, so because of your staffs carelessness of not stating the need of reserving for the pool in the email everything became a disappointment. So I demand Mr Chris Niuh your GM to be made know of this and I want a call from him in 2 days from now, if there’s no call in two days I will call in to speak to him. I really feel its unfair to us as guest to go through this and I am really very unhappy. Your hotel needs to make up to My Wife and I for the mistakes done because it’s really unacceptable for this to happen for a very renowned and famous 4star hotel like Eastin. Looking forward to a call back from your...

A Breakfast Experience Like No Other What truly stood out during my stay was the breakfast experience. I was prepared for a typical hotel breakfast but was pleasantly surprised by the extraordinary menu offerings. The Eastin Penang Hotel's breakfast spread was a delightful journey of culinary surprises. From the unconventional banana salad to the scrumptious Singapore fried bee hoon, and from Japanese-style fish and rice to Vietnamese rolls, the options were diverse and delectable. The generous spread also included 3-4 types of cheese slices, tau fu fa, miso soup, Korean-style chicken grill, soft buns, and a choice of 5-6 juices, not to mention the superb coffee. All the dishes were served fresh, and despite the limited space, the variety was truly impressive. It was a breakfast experience like no other.

Exceptional Staff and Service Throughout my breakfast experience, the hotel staff were exceptionally attentive and polite. Despite the multitude of food options, there was no chaos or noise. The staff went out of their way to ensure that guests were well taken care of, and this level of service made the dining experience even more enjoyable.

Sparkling Clean Toilets It's often said that the cleanliness of a hotel's bathroom reflects the overall standards of the establishment, and Eastin Penang Hotel certainly excels in this regard. The toilet was not just clean but remarkably shiny, and I felt a sense of luxury and well-being each time I used it. This level of cleanliness and maintenance added an extra layer of comfort to my stay.

My two-night stay at the Eastin Penang Hotel was nothing short of superb. The room's comfort and cleanliness, the immaculate toilets, the extraordinary breakfast offerings, and the exceptional staff service all contributed to a truly memorable stay. While parking may be a slight challenge, it does not overshadow the overall excellence of this establishment. I would highly recommend the Eastin Penang Hotel to anyone seeking a remarkable and unforgettable...
