This has been my family casual to go place for Japanese dinner. Cozy ambience with attentive staff. Here’s what we tried :
Kamo Carpaccio Rm 18 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent smoke duck. ✨
Unagi Cream Cheese Bou Rm 35.10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our favorite. A must whenever we come eat ❤️
Tobiko Sushi x 2pcs Rm 7.20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Classic sushi however the tobiko mouthfeel and taste not that great.
Hokke Hiraki Rm 27.90 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Fresh salt baked fish. Well marinated and not dry at all.
Gindara Kama Shioyaki x 2 Rm 63 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our absolute favorite and must order dish! Super crispy slightly charred skin Cod jaw fish with its juicy meat were absolutely delightful!
Tori Karaage Rm 10.80 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Simple yet excellent dish. Crispy outside juicy inside!
Koebi Karaage Rm 9.90 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Our usual order. Aromatic white shrimp beautifully deep fried that goes very well with beer.
Gindara Kami Nabe x 2 Rm 95.40 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Satisfying soup with generous ingredients however the soup is on the sweet side.
Ninniku Yaki Meshi Rm 14.40 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Big portion aromatic garlic fried rice with wok hei. Best share eat.
Kani Chawanmushi x 2 Rm 18 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Unimpressed with the imitation crab meat used. The steam egg part is the same with whichever flavour you’re ordering just add in the top ingredients only. The dish comes lukewarm and slightly dried up.
Katsu Curry Rice Rm 22.50 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Crispy chicken (we changed from pork to chicken meat) that goes well with their thick curry and rice.
Kani Fried Don Rm 25.20 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Comes with other ingredients besides soft shell crab. We enjoyed this dish and were given generous amount of rice.
Overall we’re satisfied with our meal. There’s additional 10% discount for membership. It is advisable to call and book for table if you’re coming...
Read moreA Disappointing Experience. Upon entering Tairyo, I was greeted by a pleasant environment and competent staff. Unfortunately, the dining experience took a nosedive from there due to severely subpar food quality.
I ordered the Wagyu Don, expecting a succulent, flavorful dish. What arrived was a profound disappointment: the meat, which was supposed to be wagyu, resembled low-quality “bacon” and lacked any distinctive taste. It was merely plain and underwhelming, a far cry from what one might expect at a restaurant that charges a premium for such a dish.
The Grilled Teriyaki Chicken was another letdown. Not only was it undercooked with raw patches, a significant health concern, but it was also misleadingly labeled on the menu. Despite being described as "grilled," it was undeniably fried. When queried, the staff confirmed that they do not use a grill at all—a baffling revelation that suggests a serious lack of transparency in their menu descriptions.
To their credit, the staff did replace the problematic chicken dish. However, the replacement was fried in evidently old, blackened oil, which did nothing to improve the situation or my perception of their kitchen's standards.
Overall, Tairyo failed to deliver the quality and authenticity one would expect from a reputable Japanese cuisine restaurant. From misrepresentations on the menu to the low quality of ingredients used, this was a dining experience I would...
Read moreFood is decent, but bad service from the female waitress (with a China Chinese accent) who's managing the food orders near the kitchen.
First encounter: I asked to clear some of the empty plates off the table, she responded with annoyance, making a loud "Tskkk" and pressing the "Service" button. Then, proceeded to say "Thank you" with annoyance and leave without responding to my request.
Second encounter: when following up on my remaining add-on food orders (which has been delayed for 20+ mins since few dishes have been served), she argued and insisted that she has served the food and showing the order bill. After few arguments and verification of the order bill, only she agree that the food wasn't served. Then, she left without any apologies. Food was served right after that.
My guess is that she could be not the one responsible to serve food, and only managing the food orders; and overwhelmed especially when the place is packed. However, the way she handled the situation should be improved, especially for a Japanese restaurant like Tairyo. Also, we are charged service fees here. Don't mean to be picky here, but the way how she delivered the "service" is not...
