International House — Hotel in George Town

Staying here for a few days for business related events outside.

Very bad. First 10 min in this room, I already sat on a rat dropping on one of the table stools. That's not a good first impression.

The room was infested with rats. We left the room for less than 12 hours, the rats seemed to be having a fest while we were gone. Fresh rat droppings left everywhere even on our beds as we returned.

It even nibbled on our instant noodles we planned to eat after we came back late at night tired.

On my bed there was a horrible stench like human feces or dead rats at the wall and under the bed.

No remote control provided for air cond, either full blast freezing on, or off.

Toilet flush is not working properly. I have to thrash the lever multiple times for it to work.

In the spirit of fairness, this place is reasonably maintained. I give this place two stars instead of one, only because I didn't come back home with bed bugs.

Overall this is one of the worst accommodations I have ever been to, I had better experience staying in a shady RM25/night...

Access to the front gate of the RECSAM compound from the airport, Komtar, and other Georgetown attractions is easy via PenangRapidTransit bus system. The International House is just a short ways up the hill. Wading pool is often crowded on weekends when 4-5 kids of wedding guests can completely occupy it. Poolside furniture is overdue for replacement and there's a lack of shade at mid-day, but the overall rate is certainly competitive. As mentioned earlier, the TESCO mall out the back gate of the compound (actually the pedagogical institute's front gate) has excellent food court options with hypermarket and other shops. The newly connected (to TESCO) Udini mall has even more shopping and the next door e-gate mall has restaurants and coffee options...

as per July 2019, my experience at this place is not good. swimming pool still under maintenance for so long almost a year, the wall have so many crack, the ceiling give out white crumbs that come down on my face when i'm in bed, they are many spider web on the wall and ceiling prove that housekeeping is not well monitored, the door still using door knob where it should had improve its security using cards identification, the bed shedding give me itches and uncomfortable experience that make me stay awake at night, i still have red spot at parts of the body that really itchy for days (got bugs bite). the visual display at the brosure is not what it seem at the accommodation, the website is old (2009) and the price is not the same when i arrive at...
