|2025| This year we opted for a Grand Deluxe King room. It was super spacious, very likely the biggest hotel room I've stayed in. Pillows were still soft but our room was tucked off in a secluded zone so I slept quite well. I'm glad that unlike last year, cleanliness is better this time. But the TV had poor image and sound quality. I don't watch TV much, but if you do, it's gonna disappoint. There's also a coffee machine with 3 types of brew. I tried all 3 and didn't like them as they had a rather sour note. While I was in the shower, I heard the room door being opened and a lady's voice saying "oops" and closing it immediately. I believe a staff thought the room was empty. I'm a bit surprised that knocking to make sure a room is empty isn't the SOP here. I've seen that being practiced at other hotels, which seems logical to me. |2024| Passing through Taiping en route to Ipoh, we chose to stay here for one night. Our Premier Room on a high floor was very spacious. General cleanliness was good, except the upholstery on the sofa and work chair looked tired and could do with a good clean or change. I thought there'd be a view of a big lake as stated on the booking site. But a mountain dominates the view out of the window. No problems for me as the mountain (thankfully green mountain) was at times misty and peaceful to look at. If you're particular about pillows, then I hope you like pillows filled with mushmellow, because that's how soft the pillows were. That's one area I hope the hotel will look into in future. Nevertheless, both of us woke up feeling recharged. There's a food centre across the road from the hotel entrance. But there wasn't much activity at night when I visited. The mall next to the hotel was similarly quiet and uninteresting. Half the mall shops were empty so not surprising the shopping crowd was very thin too. Overall if we just wanted a comfortable place to rest for the night, this hotel would do just fine. So if we return to Taiping, there's a high chance we'd stay here again.

Requested for baby cot during checkin. Waited to 5pm never came. Had to call front desk to get it. On 2nd day, house keeping took the towels for washing but didn't replenish the towel. Wife and young daughter was having shower, with no towels. Went out from room, asked housekeeping staff, was told there is no more towels in the hotel. Phoned the front desk to request for towel. 5 minutes later house keeping brought 1 towel and promised will send a second towel, that never arrived. 6pm called front desk again, then only I received the second towel. Had to wait from 12 noon to 6pm before I could shower due to no towel or broken promise. This incident killed the whole experience as a whole. Very disappointed. Christmas Eve buffet party at food exchange, was asked to perform bank transfer in advance to secure early bird price. This is very odd but complied. No receipt is offered after payment. Usually I will be able to pay for the dinner upon arrival. Or do you expect guest to be a local resident? Accor all points was not given and was informed that the points will not be awarded for promotion items. This is rediculous. This must be the only hotel in accor group that does this, advanced payment in full upon reservation, with no refunds in the event of cancellation or no show. And no receipts given upon payment. And no all points. After long conservation with the person on the phone, was awarded all reward points for the payment. This is downright awful experience and something I will not want to repeat. I will not visit this hotel again. Bad service, bad planning. I still can't believe a hotel don't have enough towels. IF YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH TOWELS, DONT REMOVE THE OLD ONES. WIFE AND 4 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER LEFT IN SHOWER ALL WET AND NO MEANS OF DRYING THEMSELVES. WHAT IF I WAS NOT IN THE ROOM AT THE TIME.. HORRIBLE.. AND NO SOLUTION GIVEN BY HOUSEKEEPING. JUST NO TOWELS. THAT'S IT. I WILL NOT STEP FOOT IN THIS HOTEL.

Booked this hotel for a night stay while visiting Taiping. The hotel is located in the middle of the town. You can easily walk around the surrounding vicinity of the hotel to local eateries. Opposite of the hotel already a food court where you can find lots of food. But do bear in mind that if you go there for dinner, those Chinese stores only open after 6:30pm onwards. So if you go early, nothing much to find. If you look for Malay food, then it should be any problem as most malay store are already opened early. The hotel is also connected to the shopping mall next door. Check-in was done quite fast. But alas, when we went into the room. One of the electric point short circuit causing the whole room no electricity. We requested a change of room and the hotel did cater to it quite fast. The washroom a bit weird design though. There is a glass door for the toilet area but none for the bathing area. Rational, would be glass door should be for the bathing side so that water won't splash out. There is no reason to have a glass door for the toilet area. The hotel housekeeping will need to improve as we waited for more than 1 1/2 hour just for the one additional bed. We have requested the hotel to send the bed during check-in time and also have to call the reception and housekeeping several times to follow up. Time wasted for waiting for the bed and also distorted our plan to go out. Hope the hotel will improve and also continue to maintain the property well as it is located in a very good area.

I was a guest at your amazing hotel, Novotel Taiping from 15 – 27 February 2025, I had a wonderful stay and experience at this hotel. I had never felt so welcomed and happy staying in this wonderful hotel. Where Taiping is situated it’s hard to believe that the outstanding guest services and great hospitality given by all your staff is EXCEPTIONALLY AWESOME!! I travel to lots of countries too, but my experience in Novotel Taiping I must say is by so far THE BEST!! The warmth and amazing hospitality extended to me, even here in Singapore or other countries don’t do what each and every staff has done for me!! All the staff from the outlets, room service, Gourmet Bar & Lounge, to Front office, Reservations and Concierge and even Housekeeping, gave me an amazing and satisfied experience that no words can describe!! The amazing hospitality rendered to me, was truly an experience that will definitely make me come back to stay again, and would definitely recommend to my friends and families too. But special recognition is to be given to some of the staff that always made my day and made my stay, amazingly awesome! They are Thiva and Hanafi, from Gourmet Bar & Lounge, they served drinks to me, always with a smile and their positive attitude towards their work, is superbly excellent!! And for Shanti, from Front Office, she went that extra mile just to get for me ice that I needed for my son, as I was rushing to the hospital to see my son and had forgotten to go down onto the 7th Floor to get it, she nicely offered the help. I was very touched, cause it was still around 12noon, and Gourmet Bar & Lounge was still closed. Last but not least, the BEST of all is Mr Sirus from Concierge, now he went beyond my expectation, which was not what I expected! So, my son got discharged from hospital and so I decided to have him stay with me for the next 3 days before I head back to Singapore. As my son’s left leg got amputated, he recommended that he can have a chair placed in the bathroom, as my son is not able to stand on his own, now I totally overlooked about this situation, he just wanted to see if I needed. I was so thankful cause, it never crossed my mind. To me this is something important and I don’t know how I can overlook it, I am so grateful to Mr Sirus. He truly is a GEM of an employee! Please extend my deepest appreciation to them all, and I look forward to coming back again, I hope to meet up with them all again, upon my return back to Novotel, Taiping! Highly recommended to anyone who wants to go to Taiping, Perak, Malaysia for a holiday. Kudos to all the team of Novotel taiping for making my stay a memorable and...

The service extended from the beginning to end was disappointing. Although our booking had been made months in advance, when we arrived to check in, one room wasn't ready even though it was over an hour after check in time. Then we were delayed from being able to leave hotel as the 'delayed room' wasn't set up with a third bed and we were informed we had to be present for that to occur. That took more time and worsened the check in process further as we didn't feel that the hotel valued us as guests seeing they were not prepared for us. Further to this initial experience, we then were given the extra inconvenience every single day of our 4 day stay, to have to continuously request fresh towels after housekeeping came daily and removed all our towels without replacing the bath towels. We had to enquire about towel replacement policy at reception to establish whether we weren't understanding any protocols that might be in place, however we were informed that if the bath towels get taken, they should be replaced. We thought this conversation rectified the towel issue yet it continued until we checked out. The icing on the cake was on our check out day. We were contacted by reception at 12.15 or so, informing us that our check out was at 12pm when we had already requested for a late check out of 1pm and had that agreed to, at check in. We were rushed out of the room and when we took issue with this at reception at 12.30pm and informed the young lady at check out, we were met with no response and no apologies. This has dampened our opinion of Novotel Taiping. We would expect a good level of service at any hotel, let alone one that bears the Novotel brand and comes with a certain reputation. While we really liked the location, we were dissatisfied with the service extended here. There seems to be communication issues between staff there and it doesn't appear they take on feedback or strive to make their guests' stay a memorable one in a positive way. It is not up to the guests to have to keep reminding staff of what's lacking for their stay. We will now always remember our experience at Novotel Taiping to be frustrating and negative due to the nonchalance of the staff and the customer service being poor and not at a standard that is synonymous with the Novotel name. It is incredibly disheartening to even have to post such a review but we feel so strongly about our experience that we felt...

This is the best hotel in the small sleepy town of Taiping and it is modern, sleek and competently functional.

The staff are very friendly and attentive. The concierge team met us and took our luggage immediately. They waited nearby while we checked in and brought our luggage up to the room with us.

The concierge Sirus was brilliantly helpful. He arranged a third-party driver and car for us one day to drive us around the area and also to take us to the train station at the end of our stay. He reassured us without prompting that they take their guest safety seriously and that the driver was known to him and the Hotel (although the hotel is not responsible for the driver) and had done work for them before and that he would drive us around and bring us back safely. On the days of our journeys, the driver was prompt, friendly, helpful and professional.

Our room on the 13th floor had a brilliant view over Taiping through the floor to ceiling plate glass windows. The little armchair and sofa and side table were positioned just where you would want them so you can sit and enjoy the view.

The bathroom was spacious and clean with a section for the shower and a section for the toilet partitioned with plate glass doors.

They provided free 1L refillable bottles of water and brought extra bottles and other items such as extra towels very promptly when we called housekeeping.

The pool area is lovely with an inviting main pool and a small separate children’s pool and an additional seating area. There is a pretty view over the hills. It was a joy swimming in this pool.

The one downside unfortunately is the breakfast. While there was a huge range of different types of food available, the hot food was unfortunately lukewarm despite sitting in heated containers at the buffet.

There is a chef at breakfast making eggs any how you like them. They tend to prepare a few ready and waiting on the counter. I usually asked them to make me a fresh set of eggs and most of the time they were very happy to do this but one morning one of the chefs seemed rather ungracious when I made this request and appeared to do it reluctantly, which was a surprise given the other mornings.

The breakfast experience would not put me off this Hotel as all the other aspects made for a comfortable and...
