Having read about this place in the online reviews, I decided to take the family for a meal to try it out and see what everybody was raving about.
Parking along the street was plenty, during the day it is not quite that easy.
Like a shining lighthouse, you definitely won't miss this restaurant. It's so brightly lit up, it bathes the entire street with it's facade lighting.
A stylish dining area greets you as you walk in. The place was quite packed when we got there, but luckily we managed to obtain a table quite easily.
The menu is quite extensive, and seemed like it had about 100 dishes on offer. But I tried some of the more talked about dishes including the marmite spare ribs, wat tan hor, salted egg chicken and some kung po mantis prawns.
Didn't have to wait long for the first few dishes to arrive at the table... Piping hot. The wat tan hor was really good. Smoky noodles in an egg sauce, fired chicken in a rich, salted egg sauce, fall-off-the-bone meat from the spare ribs, and deliciously cooked mantis prawns waited to be enjoyed.
When it was time for the bill, I was expecting it to be about RM100 at least, but it came up to less than RM70!
Excellent food, comfortable setting and prices which are quite amazing. What more can...
Read moreI'm very disappointed with the service at Restoran Yung Kee.
This afternoon, a group of 7 of us had lunch here. I ordered their recommended coconut shake, and specifically requested no sugar because I was worried it would be too sweet. The waitress (a middle-aged woman with glasses) immediately said the shake was “pre-made” and couldn’t be modified. But when the drinks arrived, they were clearly freshly blended, not pre-made. That was misleading and disappointing.
Worse still, after we finished our meal, my boyfriend went to the counter and paid RM100+, and we received the receipt. As we were about to leave, the same waitress came over and told us we hadn’t paid yet, and that our bill was RM200+. We showed her the receipt, and she rudely insisted we had paid for the wrong table because we didn’t bring the order chit to the counter.
But we clearly pointed out our table twice during payment — this wasn’t our fault. It’s either the cashier made a mistake or the system is flawed. Instead of apologizing, the waitress kept blaming us, and her tone was very unprofessional and disrespectful.
We’re customers, not criminals. Is this really how a restaurant should...
Read moreBeware if you're eating here! ⚠️ Their food is good (sotong, prawn, taufu...) except a pork meatball which is so full of bad pork smell but their air ventilation is bad and poor staff service. We were charged with appetizers we were never been served but luckily we checked the bill before paying and had them remove that from the bill. We also asked for more garlic and small chilies to eat alongside with the dishes but we're immediately told they ran out of the garlic and chilies. Isn't this funny? We felt that it was impossible and finally they filled up some garlic for us after several attempts, asking different staffs for that. We didn't order only one or two dishes for twenty people and we didn't request for chilies and more garlic to waste those, why are we being told that you ran out of those when you didn't? 🙃 Hope you can check on your staffs' attitude and...
