Restoran Tom Yam Sejati is a great spot if you’re looking for variety—they have a wide selection of dishes, from local favorites to Thai-style offerings. It can get quite crowded, especially during peak hours, which says a lot about its popularity with the locals.
What I really loved here was the ulam (traditional Malay salad)—super fresh, and they offer many types of sambal, each with its own unique flavor and level of spiciness. Sambal lovers will definitely enjoy the options!
Their nasi campur (mixed rice) is definitely the highlight—so many choices of dishes, and everything I tried was well-cooked and flavorful. It’s a great place to enjoy a hearty, balanced local meal.
However, not everything impressed me. The nasi ayam (chicken rice) was just average—not very flavorful, and the chicken could’ve been more tender. The soup noodles were also just okay—nothing too special.
Despite that, the place makes up for it with its variety, fast service, and decent prices. It’s also a good place for group meals since everyone can find something they like. If you’re in the mood for nasi campur with great sambal and ulam, this is the place to go!
Would definitely return for the nasi campur and sambal...
Read moreI feel the rating doesn't do this restaurant justice as they are worth more than 3.8 at the time of writing. They almost got the highest rating save for the inconsistency of the bbq chicken. On my first visit, the chicken had just the perfect marinade on top of being perfectly smoked while the subsequent visit it's much soggier on the outer layer without the accompanying smokiness nor the smokey paprika taste. The beef tripe in lime juice was good while the vege, sambal and rice were quite the standard fare. Quite a number of dishes on display. However, their bbq fish and sauces section needs some handling of the flies.

Read moreThe food was tasteless (definitely no taste at all)! 🙄 The side soup from my fried rice tastes like air paip / chlorine, did you guys planning to make your customers get food poisoning by having it???? Plus whenever I ask for any kind of foods , the waiter would say that "habis / tak ada" lol. Before this I do recommend this restaurant to everyone but now when it change to "Beloh Male" for dinner, everything just sucks! PLEASE BRING THE OLD VERSION...
