The Taiping Furama Hotel, located at 31 Jalan Peng Loong, Taiping, Perak, Malaysia, is a budget-friendly option that seems to punch above its weight for the price. That’s pretty affordable, especially for a place that’s often described as clean and spacious. Location is a big plus here. It’s just a stone’s throw from Taiping Lake Gardens—literally behind the hotel—and a short walk or drive to the Zoo Taiping & Night Safari. You’re also close to Jalan Kota, one of Taiping’s main streets, loaded with eateries, shops, and coffee spots like Prima Taiping, where you can grab seafood porridge or Hokkien noodles. Reviewers often mention the convenience—restaurants like Restoran Mr BBQ and Dragon Phoenix are right nearby, and the food scene is a highlight of staying here. One downside? A nearby food court sometimes blasts loud music into the evening, though it usually dies down by 11 PM. The hotel itself has 68 rooms across a few floors, with options like Standard, Superior, Deluxe, and Family setups. The vibe is a bit old-school—think dated Chinese decor with souvenirs cluttering the lobby—but once you get to the rooms, people are pleasantly surprised. They’re described as large, clean, and comfy, with air conditioning and free WiFi (though some folks struggle to connect). Beds come in king or twin options, and the decor’s simple—beige tones with a splash of aqua or peach. There’s a mini library on the top floor and water coolers around, so you won’t go thirsty. Parking’s free, either out front or at a shady spot across the street. Reviews are mostly positive but not flawless. On Tripadvisor, it’s ranked #5 of 29 hotels in Taiping with a 4/5 rating from 65 reviews. Guests love the value—clean rooms, good location, and friendly staff at a low price. Housekeeping gets props for being helpful, and the proximity to attractions like the Lake Gardens and Telegraph Museum (0.4 km) is a win. But there are quirks: one guest was furious about a privacy slip-up in 2021 when a receptionist handed their receipt (with personal details) to a friend without consent. Others mention hard beds or noise issues—like fireworks during Hari Raya disrupting sleep. Check-in can be slow if it’s busy, too. Overall, it’s a solid pick for a short stay in Taiping if you’re after affordability and convenience. It’s not luxury—don’t expect 5-star vibes or flawless service—but for the price, it delivers. The dated exterior hides decent rooms, and the location makes exploring easy. Just brace yourself for potential noise and double-check your WiFi connection. Would I recommend it? Yeah, for a no-frills trip where you’re out enjoying Taiping more than lounging...
Read moreStayed at this hotel on 27 Nov 2021 night. When I asked for a receipt, the reception took some time to get it prepared. So , I clearly said that I will collect it personally at the front desk later. While me was in the room taking shower, the reception came knocking on every room door. Of course I couldn't hear it. She pass the receipt to my friend on next room without my consent !! By doing so, the receptionist is exposing all my personal details to others / strangers !!! As the receipt is not in an enclosed envelope nor sealed. This is not professional at all !! I was very upset about it and just a sorry of apology doesn't help. What if others misuse my personal details for some crimes ??? Who will hold responsible ??? ||||Very...
