My wife and I stayed at the Tudor for just three nights, but we had a wonderful experience and couldn’t recommend the hotel and the owners more. The house is beautiful, outside and in. It’s been completely renovated with beautifully designed interior that feels modern yet true to the period of the house (especially the bannisters). We stayed in the deluxe balcony room, and it was comfortable and spacious, with plenty of storage space for our things, and had a lovey view of the surrounding green neighborhood and hills beyond. The bed was comfortable and the shower, with very nice tiling, was great. We also loved the location. It’s in a quiet and pretty neighborhood, but still close enough to walk to great food (including a really delicious and pleasant Indian place just 5 minutes walk away, and lots of other stuff 10-15 minutes walk).
The owners, Rachel and Lucas, could not be more kind and welcoming. Rachel was full of local advice, and was eager to know how our experiences in Ipoh were so she could keep building her recommendations for future guests. When we checked out, she told us if we needed anything at all for the rest of our time in Malaysia we should contact her and she would help in any way she could - and to our surprise we took her up on that offer almost immediately; she and Lucas went completely above and beyond to help us. We rented a car when we left, and then got into a collision (everyone okay, thankfully) about an hour later. We contacted Rachel for help with translation, and Lucas rushed to the scene immediately to coordinate with the police and the other driver. When we messaged them from the station to tell them that things had gone smoothly (as much as could be expected), they told us that they had reserved their last room (the same one we had stayed in) for us for that night, in case we decided we didn’t want to do the drive we had planned, under the circumstances. It was incredibly thoughtful, and they told us to take as much time as we needed making a decision. We decided that would be much nicer than making the drive as planned, especially since it was now much later in the day and the weather was turning. When we walked back into our room it was so nice and pleasant, as it had been the whole time, and we were so grateful to be back.
We really enjoyed our time at the Tudor, and we highly recommend staying there if you get the chance. And definitely chat with Rachel and Lucas if you get the chance, they are...
Read moreI would love to visit this lovely little villa again. Perhaps it should be kept a secret. I don't want hoards of visitors here. It's too precious for travellers who don't appreciate peace and quiet.
Firstly, it's located in a quiet leafy residential neighbourhood off a main street. So, no heavy traffic outside the gates. The owners have installed automatic gates. Once you are let in, you are greeted at the entrance. When you enter, your eyes will wander around the interior. It will feel immediately like someone has allowed you to visit their private home. It is both cosy and homely. After the check-in process is done, you will be given old world keys to your room.
I had reserved a twin bed with ensuite bathroom. The room was very spacious when compared to a similar priced hotel room in the city. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom had a shower with good water pressure. At night, the quiet neighbourhood was just right for a good night's sleep.
The receptionist mentioned that there was a small kitchenette and lounge at the back of the main building. No cooking was allowed but you could bring your own food and occupy the space peacefully.
If you do drive to The Tudor, there is limited parking space. So, do check first. Finally, I hope this place will remain as it is. I will return one day in the...
Read moreIf you’re looking for a cozy place, a quiet environment, a nice lady with a happy smile who will welcome you to this tiny guesthouse, a clean and comfortable room, with the door that you have to remember to lock with a real key like in the old days, if you want to sleep surrounded by silence and be awakened by the chirping of birds, well, this is the place for you. ||||The name itself and the interior decoration want to give a perception of old English cottage, although with a bit too many modern reproductions of old furniture. But it’s cute – and unusual. ||||You can park the car inside – on a first come first serve basis. I was lucky to get the room at the first floor with the larger balcony. The bed is extremely comfortable, and the night silence helps having a perfect sleeping experience. ||||They do not serve breakfast in the morning, but this is not a big issue for me. You can find places for that within a few minutes’ drive from here. ||||That was my first experience there, just for one night. I will probably choose it again on my next...
