Yum Yum Restaurant | Ipoh — Restaurant in Perak

Almost reluctant to review as the food is just SO GOOD here that I worry it will become too popular, and the restaurant will run out of chicken before I get back to it (like it isn't already incredibly popular locally).

Absolutely incredible food, always come here yearly to have the Pandan Chicken. The restaurant is always packed, as the service is fast, and the food is authentic and absolutely delicious. Pandan chicken is an absolute favourite food of mine, particularly at this establishment, and I would highly reccomend it; that being said I would not miss their other food on the menu, such as the okra, and any fish dish always hits.

I would say the pandan chicken alone is worth coming here for. I have travelled half way round the world every 1-2 years or so since I was a kid to ipoh for family; and every time I would look forward to coming here to just eat the chicken. You will not regret it, to me it's the best in the world. I am assuming that they steam it in the pandan leaves and all the flavour from their secret 11 spice recipe (which I have tried time and time again to ask for) is sealed in to the succulent chicken. I wouldnot say this often, but it truly is to die for.

We (three adults) stopped at this restaurant while driving to KL on 22 October 2024. We arrived at 7:30pm on a Tuesday night to a very busy restaurant and we were seated within 3 minutes. We were quite lucky to be seated so quickly, and would have fully understood if we had to wait longer. The restaurant owner and waiters were all very friendly and polite. The waiter was very helpful in giving us advice on how much food to order and when the food arrived the orders were all appropriately portioned and arrived fairly quickly. We ordered the steamed fish with golden lime sauce (small), yum yum egg (medium), yum yum pandan chicken (2 pieces, so good we ordered twice), deep fried aromatic sotong, creamy basil butter prawn (small, also ordered twice), two portions of rice, two beers, and a lychee juice. The food was absolutely amazing and so was the service. The restaurant was spotlessly clean. The price was RM226, which was excellent value for the amount we ate. Overall one of the best meals...

Tasty Curry Fish Head. One of the best in Ipoh. Other signature dishes include lemongrass chicken, turmeric chicken and pandan chicken. Lovely decor. Friendly attentive staff. Always a good meal.

After two years of not being able to return to Ipoh, one of our first meals join returning was Yum Yum and they did not disappoint! In fact, I think it was even tastier than our last meal! The dishes came out quickly after being ordered and every one of them will prepared and full of flavour! Curry Fish Head, mango salad, fried egg with pork, jicama lettuce wrap and salted egg yolk prawns were excellent choices. The staff were all very friendly, courteous and attentive and observe all COVID protocols and best practices. All in all a fabulous dinner and looking forward to our next visit already!
