Best hotel in Maafushi!
Read moreWhat I loved about the resort was the friendliness of all the staff. Shout out to Hassan and the reservations team, who were very empathetic of our booking issue during our arrival. The resort is just a simple walk from the island's jetty. We booked at the Triton Prestige Seaview & Spa, which was nice and looks new. The room is cute with excellent amenities. I loved the bath gel scent. The room's soundproofing is not the best. We could hear slight music from the other room when we were relaxing inside the room, but it was tolerable. We loved hanging out in the back space of the spa on the 9th floor. I believe there were tables and chairs for some snacks or lounging, and we spent most of our days there rather than joining the busy pool area on the 8th floor. Unfortunately, we stayed during a rainy period when flies infested the island. It made the breakfast experience down. Even if you dine at another restaurant around the island, flies are everywhere, and they aren't shy to land on anything! I hope they could address a more effective pest control with this issue. At breakfast, the two parrots were cute as well as the cat. Milan, who was very friendly and caring for the rest of our stay, attended to us during breakfasts. We also booked a Balinese massage. Please note that the sauna is only available at the older Triton, so we weren't able to avail of it. The spa is on the 9th floor, but you must make reservations at the hotel reception. We had mixed impressions of the therapists: they were friendly. However, throughout the session, they kept talking with each other and even giggling. The constant whisper chats didn't help at all to relax and feel the massage. Overall, we loved our stay at the Triton Prestige. We would stay there...
Read moreThis hotel is located on the other side of the island, away from the hustle and bustle of the jetty and water sports area. It took us about 5 minutes to walk from the jetty to the hotel.
When we entered the lobby, there were a lot of flies around. We were given a cold towel and were briefed about the hotel amenities and tours available while the reception processed our check-in. The hotel has an infinity pool on the 8th floor. It is small and it is open from 10am to 8pm daily. There is also a door labelled "Gym" on the same level, but it was locked.
The room we booked was a Standard Double Room. The room was spacious and we could get a bit of view of the Sunrise Beach from the balcony. Alas, the plot of land opposite was under construction, so it was not exactly ideal to hang outside. One also has to be mindful to keep the doors of the balcony and shower shut, as the flies can fly into your room.
Breakfast was served in the form of a buffet. The spread was simple: An egg station, bread and a few choice of pastries, rice, noodles and some dishes, including processed food like popcorn chicken, sausages and mini pizzas. It was unfortunate that there were a lot of flies in the restaurant too. The staff lit candles on the buffet table with little to no effect to chase the flies away. There is room for service at the restaurant. On the first day, the person at the egg station missed out ingredients for my order. On the second day, coffee and tea was offered to my friend while I was away. When I returned, the server came with my friend's order and walked away without asking for mine. Thereafter, the servers and the chef from the egg station gathered at the bar to have their own conversations, ignoring anyone who asked for them/at the...
