Rudest staff and substandard food. I once enquired if there was rice for breakfast from the tall skinny Bangladeshi. He said 'no'. I said 'such a shame as next door did'. He unbelievably said 'go there then'! Today I got told off for saving my waste food on my plate and taking the leftovers to the beach. The same tall skinny Bangladeshi told me I can't feed my leftovers for the birds? It's not like I am throwing them on their restaurant grounds. Manager told me after this is a Muslim country and 'I must respect the rules'. 'I must respect islam'. 'There is no waste food'. It goes in the bin'. He would rather bin my leftovers rather than letting me feed the crows. Locals feed the crows daily, so this has nothing to do with religion. I see every morning locals feeding animals. I had spent money at the restaurant for five days, eating substandard food as this island does not have great food. The service is awful here. My plates rarely got cleared off table daily. Other people had their tables cleared. Today I got up briefly and someone took my table. That same tall skinny waiter told ME to move to another table, despite him knowing i was sitting there already. I told the China woman to move as I was sitting there. Unbelievable. Twenty five years of visiting the Maldives many times, and never encountered such rudeness. This whole island is rude. Too many Bangladeshi workers. These peoples are on all resorts. On the private islands they are not as unpleasant, but they are definitely not the friendliest of peoples. I see over the years there are more Bangladeshi peoples than ever before In the Maldives. I suspect other tourists are getting scolded also. The Maldivians and Indians are helpful on the island. Even on day one I got told to get off the swing as it apparently was only for children. No signage whatsoever. Really restrictive country compared to many years ago. Oddly enough, not by locals, but migrant workers. 99% of these migrant workers work excessively long hours for peanuts, doing jobs the indigenous peoples won't do. They don't like their jobs and it shows. Zero customer service, and service with a snarl. If I encounter any more rudeness on other islands, I won't be returning after this trip. I will go back to the South Pacific islands. Non Islamic and no restrictions. No one watching...

I had buffet dinner at this restaurant during my stay in Maafushi. The price is very reasonable, at USD12 per pax. The spread was simple: cream soup, fried rice, fried noodles, spaghetti, grilled chicken, chili beef, a grill station with one huge fish and sausages, chunks of raw carrots, onions and cucumber for their salad/fresh vegetables. The entire list of food items are listed on the menu.

While the food variety is limited, they are generally good. The asian fried noodles was well seasoned and really tasted like what we would get at home. The fish was fresh and well marinated. The grilled chicken was tough, but overall still edible.

I also noticed that there were more locals in the restaurants as compared to the others we walked past. There were only a few waiters around that evening, but they were very responsive. I was walking up and down the food aisle going through the food choice when a waiter walked up and offered to cut a portion of grilled fish for me.

Overall, this is a decent restaurant to...

The buffet spread isn't massive, just ok for anyone who wants to dig in some vegetables and meats, there is a rather unattractive looking fish grilled, seems they trying it's the highlight, but it's very rubbery, and hardly any meats, except the middle part! No other seafood like squid, prawns! The buffet had stirfried vegetables, fried rice, pasta things, fish cutlets, chicken fried, soups, fruits, drinks! But no coffee! The fish soup was surprisingly delicious and spicy, we had 3 times spontaneously. The price is us$12 per head, child is the half of it. You can pay the equivalent local mvr too. We tired they short eats a few time, like mas huni, banana fritter, fish ball, deep fried fish etc, the price ranged from...

I notice that lots of locals frequent this restaurant. I came by for the buffet, which is priced at $12. I liked that they are very upfront with what you are going to get in the buffet. I thought it was very interesting that their idea of fresh vegetables is literally chunks of raw carrots and onions, and sliced cucumber. The fried noodles were pretty good. The grilled chicken was pretty tough but still edible. The chili beef was more like a sweet and sour beef item. The staff were very helpful in helping me get a slice of the grilled fish.

I was shocked to see staffs from other hotel come here for lunch and dinner. They told me that this restaurant is the best restaurant in Maafushi for LOCAL delicacies. When they get bored with Western cuisines in their hotel, they will come here. They are saying the truth. My original city is a food capital in South East Asia and therefore I am quite choosy. But I finished everything on my plate here. Consider that as a compliment 👍👍 The cooks and chefs are doing a good job, and the waiters and waitresses are very friendly!
