Casa Esterito is a really fantastic new place to stay in La Paz. Everything about our experience was enjoyable. The location itself is brilliant as it is walking distance from bars and restaurants on the Malicon and also the shopping area of the town. ||When we arrived, the owner Miguel, personally welcomed us with a big smile and showed us around the accommodation. He spoke almost perfect english and made sure that we were comfortable and knew where everything was. We stayed in a lovely upstairs apartment but there are also dorms available downstairs. ||The apartment had a clean and comfortable double bed plus there was also a hammock in the room. There was a big window along one side making it light and airy. There is a powerful air-conditioning unit for the hotter days. || The private bathroom was in perfect condition with a hot shower and clean towels provided. There is also a small private kitchen with a gas stove and some plates and kitchen utensils. Just outside the entrance to the apartment is a little area with a large communal fridge/ freezer and a drinking water dispenser. ||What really made me smile was the attention to detail throughout the property. Artistic touches, paintings and decorations are prominent throughout the accommodation giving it a really lovely feel. ||There are bicycles available for guests to use and all they ask is that you take care of them. We decided to do a tour and swim with whale sharks and Miguel was extremely helpful in making sure that we paid a good price and were not overcharged. ||I have travelled extensively in Mexico and Casa Esterito really is one of the best places that I have had the pleasure of staying. It is a delightful, vibrant change from some of the run down hotels that La Paz has to offer and I look forward to visiting again in the future. I would feel happy to recommend this property to any...

Read moreMy stay in Casa Esterito is an experience that will always hold a special place in my heart. I stumbled upon on its great online reviews while backpacking with my friend through Mexico this summer. We initially planned to stay in la Paz & Casa Esterito for 2 days and head south later, but we eventually prolonged our stay to 3 weeks and if not our tickets back to Europe, we would have stayed much longer. We couldn’t get enough of the great vibe of the place.
The hostel is perfectly located - just 5 minutes away from the Malecon with restaurants and bars, and that is also a getaway to all the stunning, more and less visited, beaches in the area. There are few shops and cool bars (check La Miserable - la mezcalería) just a few blocks away. What stands out is Miguel´s and his team kindness, openness, but also sense familiarity and fun. The experience of the stay in the hostel goes much beyond spacious and clean, air-conditioned rooms, and delicious breakfast served every morning in an inviting living room of the marine style house. It feels like being at family summer home.
Miguel recommended and helped us to organise some great tours in the area (e.g Isla de Spiritu Santo) and advised on how to avoid all the tourist traps in the area. He was always taking care of our safety and comfort. We also got to party together and enjoyed camping at the beach with other hostel guests. Nights in the hostels, however, are quiet so it makes a perfect place to rest from the whole day spent in the sun and salt.
I will always recommend it to anyone visiting BCS as a perfect place to take a pause, absorb the culture and get to know lovely people. Looking forward to coming...
