We rented car from the airport and reached hotel in the evening. Lady at check in desk had everything ready and we were in the room in no time. Used the luggage trolley to carry all suitcases in one go from the parking lot to the room. The room provided partial ocean view however we being in 1st floor did not see much. Room was very clean and well maintained; the AC is controlled by a remote and not the wall mounted thermostat. Maintenance staff provided us extra pillows in no time. Went to next door super market, around 5 mins walk from the hotel and bought some water, wine, local snacks and checked snorkeling gear which we bought the next day. Had dinner at Lateral Tacos , next to the super-market; avoid drinks and water if you can and that will keep your bill reasonable. Later in the evening, went to the beach through the access road, around 5 mins walk and walked in the sand and dipped our toes in the Sea of Cortez. Water was not that cold as I expected.||Next morning, went to see sunrise at the beach and saw the volunteers working to release baby turtles to the ocean; we joined them and it was once in a life time experience. Lucky that we choose this side of the town to stay. ||In the morning the breakfast buffet started at 630 and went till 930 on weekdays (I believe till 10am on weekends) . All items were well stocked and the kitchen staff worked with a smile in their face; made the breakfast experience so much better. the last hour, by the way gets busy with everyone coming in almost at the same time.||Later in the morning, hotel staff offered us with some extra towels for our beach venture and we gladly accepted. We missed the opportunity to reserve going Balandra beach from the hotel desk and plan to take that up next time. ||Overall, if you are not in a mood for all-inclusive and want to stay outside Cabo San Lucas marina area, Hyatt place is a great option. ||On Christmas eve, we went to downtown San Jose Los Cabos, 10 mins drive, and enjoyed the festivities, mass at the church and some great food at...
Read moreFirst, the restaurant food is really not good - In an empty dining room we ordered 2 orders of chicken wings, a caesar salad and a chicken sandwich… the salad and one order of chicken wings were delivered 20” apart from the other items… no servers were to be found! The 3 employees seemed to be running around “busy” but we saw no one else in the dining area!
The chicken wings, tiny as the six were, appeared to be pre-cooked, frozen and then reheated! Not good, very little meat on them and the “dressing” tasted old, bottled & awful and that was what covered the romaine lettuce quarters in the “caesar” salad with 3 small slices of dried bread (not croutons!) The only thing halfway edible was the chicken sandwich. The manager DID comp us each a dessert but our server took another 15” to bring our check!
That said, they do get the breakfasts right- ample, tasty and a lot to choose from- it would be nice, however, to leave coffee, tea & hot water out during the day and evenings but it’s all taken down at 9:30 am! It’s the Hyatt!!!! And no microwave in the rooms!! Even the Hampton Inn provides those!!!
The hotel itself is VERY basic!!! Although a decent price for the area it gives no extras except free breakfast. It’s very loud in the outside areas due to being next to tge highway and lots of construction trucks going by all day! The pool is very small, next to the highway so noisy and most of the area is in shadow because of all tall buildings surrounding it. The “beach” is accessible by walking across the street and down a very rough, uneven & littered path, across heavy sand and then to the water which is too dangerous and rough to swim in.
There are no shops close enough to walk to but the cheap enough Uber ride brings you to a pretty downtown but all the shops have the SAME cheap tourist trap t-shirts and souvenirs & overpriced jewelry with VERY aggressive vendors telling you the prices are “almost free!”
Our hotel concierge(Rocio) was wonderful! Friendly, Honest, Helpful and had some very helpful...
Read moreWe enjoyed this hotel for the most part. When we initially checked in we were given room 76 and it smelt like it had been flooded. Jesus was nice an issued us another room with no problem (he was the most helpful. We loved him) The breakfast was great and the hotel was clean; however, when your staying in another country it is very important to be able to contact your loved ones in a different country in which we weren't able to do until Wednesday night of our trip, and we had been there since Sunday. We informed the night desk clerk (short, kinda heavy, wears glasses with his hair to the back. I think his name was Joel, but he didn't wear a name tag so I'm not sure of his name) of the issue and he said that he had to get with his manager the next morning. Well I wasn't happy an wasn't giving up so easy and I kept telling him that it was his router so he ended up switching our room which had the same issue so we had to wait until the next morning. The next morning we went to the front desk and no one was aware of the issue. The manager got involved, told us to give him 30 minutes and we heard nothing from him so we went back to the desk for an update. NOTHING! We left and went to San Lucas only to return to the issue still not being resolved but thankfully Jesus was there and jumped right in to fix our issue by switching us to another room. The first room had the same issue, but he kept trying and the second room Jesus issued worked. JESUS SHOULD BE THE MANAGER! THE ACTUAL MANAGER SUCKED! Our issue was fixed with a simple change of the room. We shouldn't have had to wait on Jesus to return for them to move us to a another room. This was very aggravating and no one seemed to care enough to resolve the issue but Jesus. We went threw 5 room changes. If they had fixed the wifi issue in a timely manner you'd not be reading this, but when it comes to being able to contact your children...
