My husband and I have been here several times, it’s delicious and has a variety of inventive, healthy dishes with really fresh ingredients. The portobello mushroom burger is one of the best I’ve ever had! But - if you’re vegetarian and don’t want to inadvertently consume meat, beware the soup. In fact, clarify things that are “veggie” are. The veggie trio comes with a soup that is made of chicken stock. We specifically asked two servers who didn’t think that was an issue, as 2/3 of the items were vegetarian, and told us we were wrong, and that clients should always ask. When I see “veggie”, usually it means no meat. I’m a strict vegetarian, so eating chicken would make me very sick, and counter my vegetarianism. If they would have been understanding and not condescending, this would be a 5 star.
*UPDATED: @the owner - we did ask, two staff members, if it was vegetarian, and both said yes. We know Cynthia Fresh isn't a vegetarian restaurant, and simply asked if something that looked vegetarian, was, and only with insistence, did we...
Read moreNobody get's a five in my world but Cynthia's came close. 8 PM on a Wed in the Covid age we had the place to ourselves. Service was excellent! But beyond that the food was perfect. The huge Cobb salad was so fresh with lots of veggies carrots, jicima, cucumber avocado and the green goodess dressing was excellent. We started with the ceviche and it was also preapred perfectly along with a huge of corn chips that just came out of the fryer. I had the seabass in green sauce and it was delicate flakey and quite delicous with sides of grilled squash, egg plant and tomato, rice and plantain. I didn't even try to eat the side salad which was half as big as the cobb. We took it home but I sure it is great. Got to thank Cynthia personally. She explained dinners have been slower but locals eating lunch there are keeping her in business. At less than a block from our hotel I intend to stop by Cynthia's at least a couple more times. The Cobb, Seabass, ceviche, 1 maragarita and two delicious...
Read moreOur favorite place to eat! Fresh and delicious! So great to find healthy organic food, and GF choices. We ate all of our lunches and at least half of our dinners on our last trip in 2019. Back then it was cash only, not sure if that's still the case. We are getting ready to book our next trip, only after confirming Cynthia's is still going strong!
A little update, we visited again in December 2023, and we ate there 4 times! Cynthia's is reliably wonderful from the food to the service. The guacamole is still the best in town. My favorite thing is the salad with roasted root vegetables, and topped with fish. Compared to other places we went, their portions are more generous, price is lower, and we got our food more quickly (Don't expect it in 5 minutes, but plenty of places in town keep you waiting 30-45 minutes to get your meal).
Still all cash, and they sometimes have live music there. Nice, casual place, great for lunch and dinner, and they put a lot of care into...
